my second efi silence purchased from hitchcock's uk does not sound as good as the original one. especially under load on the hills.you can hear number two on my B5 video.
although both units looked identical the internal inspection revealed that once the baffle was removed the exhaust outlet it was blocked by a metal plate with a quantity of perforated holes.
the total length of this baffle was about 6 or 7 inches and the baffle on the original muffler was a lot longer....more like 10 inches.
when i get myself a longer/larger drill bit i plan to drill out a few of the perforated holes and see if i get the deepness of note which the original exhaust had.
i might even drill the whole lot out and if i strike any drama i can again order the long baffle from hitchcocks or they may have a universal fit on the net.

There's all kinds of aftermarket bolt-in baffles available on ebay for cheap.

That is one serious obstruction! I had to take a second look 'cause at first I thought it was a spark arrester, but even a lawn mower has more open breathing than that.

plus the baffle. as soon as i get the long drill bit - i will open it out.
surprisingly it did run better with this on when compared to the standard job but i felt it could do a lot better

Huh. I posted the same pic of my EFI silencer, and nobody said anything! ;D
Curious to see what happens if you mod this - deep exhaust would be nice, but I don't want more decibels!

That is exactly like my EFI silencer :-X It is loud enough, not sure about the deep tone though. It's kind of the blatty type, but still good. It will be interesting to notice the difference once wildbill goes ahead with this little project. Another video with the modified silencer will be great. I'm thinking of getting a long bottle hollow silencer from RE's homeland sometime in the future..as the short bottle hollow was quite bad at higher RPMs. Anyways, let us see how this will turn out.

check out this video link. my bikes were just there for the photo session but i dubbed the exhaust note from the black one to the video.
it's this black bike which had the efi muffler with no perforated holes in the outlet.

(http://)I had the EFI silencer dealer installed at time of delivery on my 2011 B5. This was in 2012 as I bought the bike as a leftover model. I have had it off once myself and I can report that it has no baffle which fully obstructs because I could see light through the muffler when held up to the light. The sound and performance of the bike are great. There have got top be multiple design variations of the EFI type silencer out there!

It is loud enough, not sure about the deep tone though. It's kind of the blatty type, but still good.
SAme note I get with Hitchcock's upswept system... Probably the same muffler on a different pipe. I wish it were just a touch quieter, but in general I like it. Far and away better than what comes out the OEM telephone pole...

Mine was similar to Sparklow's. Had a great sound and ran pretty well, although the Dominator had more power, but was a lot louder. Cold be repacked but lost some power. The Goldstar muffler was pretty decent performer too.
