I have a couple of product reviews I wanted to post (boots, jacket, back protector, etc) and I was thinking... Would it be possible to create a section for gear and accessories? Every motorcycle forum I frequent has such a section. It would be for posting reviews of products we own, asking advice about helmets, jackets, and other apparel, discussing riding accessories like GPS, hydration systems, bike covers, camping gear, helmet cameras, etc. All the 'extras' beyond the bike are lumped into one category. Having a separate section for this would make it a lot easier to find pertinent information (and encourage more discussion about gear) than wading through the miscellaneous campfire threads. So how 'bout it?

So I assume this means no?
-
I think it would be a good idea. I know for myself it has been a long process trying to find info on this forum so one section for gear and access..would be a nice add-on.

A very good idea Slider. When it comes to this topic there are so many unknowns. It surely has to do with the amount of merchandise to select from. I have been looking at helmet and goggle combination's for some time trying to find the right one that fit and work well to my specific needs. I think the addition of your proposed section to this forum would help in my quest.

It would be handy to have a section devoted to this, certainly! Doesn't really fit anywhere else, anyway...
-
Sounds good to me.

I am all for it...............

Yea

The forum is perfect and needs no improvement. This area is like the elevator "Close Door" button, nothing pays attention to it ;)
I am sure they are busy getting us cool new bikes and accessories. It is really a pain moderating forums.

It is really a pain moderating forums.
The truth.
An introduction section would be nice as well.
Just sayin'

Lets see if this gets a response.........
They are too busy making "evil profits" selling motorbikes than to spend time dealing with the "working class" proletariat. Eat cake now and leave the upper crust alone.
;D
just kidding, I relish "evil profits" and achievement

mmmm.... relish

Back on the subject........ I love my leathers, but in the summer heat, they roast your gonads. I work in an environment that allows shorts & polo type shirts. It looks funny riding a bike with shorts on, but 70 mpg vs 20 in my Saturn,, no contest. I ride the bike !
Dreading the day I spill the sucker on the street. Road rash :(

Add any preferable pants
And you have good, breathable-but-still-good-for-chilly-weather, riding gear. At least, that's what I wear.
The bonus is that if you switch out your helmet for a winter cap with foldable earmuffs, and add some halycon goggles, and a brown duster, you look kind of like a certain, 3-day-stay, travelling person.

Interesting info, but this thread isn't about 'what do you wear'. It was a question (third time asked) about adding a new section to the forum which, for some reason, none of the admin seems to want to answer.

Nobody is going to paint theirself into a corner on this one. Can't blame them. There are countless brands of boots from chippewa and milwaukee (my personal faves) to HD to xelement to trusty ol' work boots that do great for riding. Hi-top sneakers offer very similar, if not equivalent, protection for ankles. Then consider jackets: bomber, classic, varsity, etc., etc. The forum is somewhat limited to fixed, or few, products and services for the RE bikes. Apparel is oceans wide and deeper.
My wife and I have both bought new jackets and boots online recently and the reviews offered on the host sites were absolutely perfect descriptions of the products, shipping and cust. service.
Not trying to be the devil's advocate, but I like the support on the forum to be more focused on keeping my classic and me riding.........
