Title: Tanks and Petcocks Question

Well,  pulled the petcock off my Craigslist tank to see if I can order a new one with a reserve function to replace it.    Using my calipers it measure .5 inches across and does indeed look like an original Indian petcock as listed here..

I guess I will have to take it to hardware store to verify the thread count but is it safe to assume its 3/8 NTP?

The answer is 1/4" pipe.....Ehhh..  Makes you wonder..  Its quite a bodge.

I am thinking about grinding the thing smooth and getting an 3/8NTP adapter plate.  The question is weather rivets with a lot of sealer would work good or should I opt for self tap screws and sealer?

 J-B Weld will keep the adapter plate on and it is completely fuel proof when cured.

 The float bowl on my military is coated inside and out to seal several pores in the casting.
