Title: Magnetic Attraction
Post by: Roger on October 23, 2007, 10:15:38 am
Hi All,

I was considering the purchase of a magnetic sump plug for my Classic, however what I did instead was to go to the local electronics store (Radio Shack/ Dick Smith/Jaycar or whoever depending where in the world you live) and bought four 10mm diameter Rare Earth magnets. I placed one on each of the drain bungs including the gearbox drain plug. These are strong little sucker so much so that I can hang a small screw driver off the plug. (See Photo)

I also bought a packet of the less powerful 3/8" square Ferric Iron magnets and placed two of them inside the oil filter. It will be a while before I get to see the results of this exercise, however I will photograph the results and post them on the forum.

So how do you get along with the traffic light sensors?

I think the traffic lights all change in his favour Leonard!!!!  ;D

Good Idea.
I have the circular Polo mint magnet fitted onto the oil filter spindle (along with the spacer aluminium piece to speed up oil flow to the top end after an oil change). A real good buy off of eBay!
We use magnets as you show Roger to trigger sensors for disabled persons stairlift mechanisms and you are right. They are powerful little suckers!!!!!
Thinks some may go missing from work real soon..................................... ;)
