Title: Naming the bike.
Post by: Ice on August 14, 2013, 02:07:07 am
The naming of a bike is not an exact thing.

Sometimes you choose the name, sometimes the bike does it for you. I imagine it's the same way with boats and horses.

Sometimes it happens quickly and sometimes it takes a bit longer.  A bike like an airplane doesn't really need a name like a boat or a horse does so no harm if it doesn't get one.

The synergy 'tween me and my bullet was there from the get go for sure but the name thing never happened until now.

Not real fancy but It's been steady, predictable and REliable. Other than the foibles I've caused It works with minimal fuss and no drama any day and every day. It' suitable for all occasions.

My first Bullet was instantly "Bess",because British soldiers affectionately called their muskets "Brown Bess",in honor of Queen Elizabeth I...it seemed appropriate...the second seemed to like "Lizzie",and since the third one started on the first or second kick,I took to calling her "Ready Betty",a nickname that my Dad had for one of my girlfriends back in 1986...all variations of Elizabeth,though...sometimes,when it's cold out,and they're being cranky, and won't start,if I apologize for being rough, and call them by name, and say "Please",they seem to start right up...strange but true...maybe it's just a Zen thing... ::)

"Beefy the Bullet" and "Hilda the Honda"
I like alliteration.

I call my 1958 RE Indian Trailblazer "The Blackhawk" because it is one mean machine and cruising at 40 mph the exhaust sounds a lot like a military helicopter.

I name my vehicles after old girl friends. My van was named Susan because she was hard to get going in the morning. My street bike is named Sharon because she was good. My dirt bike is named Dee Dee after a high school girlfriend. Dee Dee was always to fast for me.

I have been having trouble naming my bike and I've had itsince 2009 I think...

I have had a couple good ideas but nothing I can remember or that stuck.

Although now that I think about it, General Martok (from star trek deep space 9) is a cool name....  Hmmm...

Maybe....

Hi All,
I recently bought my 2014 C5 in the new tan and maroon. I am happy to join the Royal Enfield owner ranks. There aren't many in my neck of the woods and it gathers a number of comments. A lot ask me if it is a restored antique. I am not quite sure what to nickname mine. I am quite enamored with it, so it needs to be something good

Names:
The first thing I noticed was the thump of the bullet as I rode around putting break-in miles on the bike. As the miles piled up and I was able to increase speed. The vibrations which came along with the thumps began to increase in intensity and I noticed they changed to a buz when I began to ride at 45 to 55 mph. Hence, the name Buzzy came to me and has sorta stuck.
