I had a lot of fun on XR's. The photo isn't the greatest, it's been hanging on my shop wall for close to 20 years. That's me on the bike, the bikes owner and my close friend J.Dinnen congratulating me. His XR was a fantastic bike, fast, excellent handling, and legendary Honda reliability. He also ran a CR450 which I rode on occasion. It was faster but not nearly as much fun to ride.

eBay must be wrong.
The Exide ETX-14 seems to be compatible with the Yuasa YTC-14, which fits the 650's.
Also Varta 512014010

Bridgestone doesn’t seem to offer the front 110/80/18 in an H type.  Did you buy a rear H or get the V to match the front?  I don’t suppose it really matters as the tread should be the same and they are both overkill for this bike for speed rating.
V rear. It won’t really matter.

The Golden Rule in action!   ::)

Interestingly a search on eBay for batteries, shows the Exide ETX-14 as not suitable for the Interceptor!🤔

Any of the mentioned alternatives will be good, Avon, Bridgestone or Michelin.
Tires are so important for safety and the pleasure you get riding your bike that they should be very high on the priority list.

When I bought my Conti (new) I had the tires changed before I went to pick up the bike. I did a test ride on an Interceptor with the Ceat's, and on a Conti with the Bridgestones. I find it difficult to describe the difference in what I felt exactly but the confidence I got with the Bridgestones just wasn't there with the Ceat's.
Both rides were about 40~45 minutes so not really a long term experience but enough to know I wanted better tires.

The dealer did have the Bridgestones and the Michelins in stock, he only sells Royal Enfields so has 650's come in regularly for new tires. I trusted both so chose the tire that looked best to me  ;D

New tubes or not, there's another topic on the forum about that. I'd say if they look good you can reuse them. But at the slightest doubt certainly put new ones in. The cost shouldn't be an issue.

You don't need a battery with magneto ignition!

My Interceptor makes the same pop a few seconds after shutting down the engine.

Good to know!  Has it always done it or just eventually started happening?  I’m pretty sure mine didn’t used to do it and it’s a recent development.

Just to be clear, is your attachment the old schedule or the revised one, as it still shows valve inspect and adjust at 500 km?

Apologies for any confusion.

The screenshot is from the older version of the service manual, detailing an inspection and adjustment procedure for the inlet and exhaust valve clearance at 500kms.

The latest updates is communicated in the YouTube video link included in the post. It features an interview with the Service Manager at an authorized RE Service Center, providing the most recent information.

This is exactly what I noticed after I changed from stock Ceats to Michelin Road Classics.
Or rather, the lack of sliding.
In corners, the rear (Michelin) felt glued to the road, compared to the Ceat.
Exactly my experience.
In hindsight, every km spend on the Ceats was one too many.

Thanks for chiming in.  That pretty much solidifies it for me.  I’ll upgrade the rubber.
