I absolutely love my Shotgun 650, but being a little shorter and having shorter arms, it's a bit of a reach to the bars for me. I was thinking about adding some risers like I did on a Suzuki Intruder 800 I had some years ago, but also thought about changing the bars out for the ones on a Super Meteor. I'm guessing I might need to get some new cables, saw someone from India post that they did the Super Meteor bars and had to get new clutch cable.

Curious to hear folks opinions on what might be the best way to go here, or from anyone who's perhaps done a similar mod. I know these bikes are really new, not a ton of stuff out there yet. One thing that makes the risers a challenge is that most are made for Harleys, which have 1" bars. And if I'm not mistaken, the Shotgun has 7/8" bars, correct?

As always, any advice is appreciated!

Ok, so I have a reformulation of this question - will the relocators/risers for an Interceptor work on a Shotgun? I get that I probably wouldn't be able to use the branded top clamp, but I would be ok with that if I could get the bars moved a bit. These are the ones I was looking at: https://accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/accessory-shop/handlebars/43551

I've used these. For me, 2" worked.

Oh wow, those are awesome! Thanks for posting. Can't believe I hadn't seen something like them before. Did you put these on a Shotgun? If so, were all the cables ok?

HD Street 750. Similar as cruisers go. I changed the routing on some of the cables. That's all. 2" really helped the handle bar/seat position. I set it up for a two inch pull back, straight back.

Yes sir, and the gentleman from India that I mentioned in my OP stated that they were wider, more swept back, and alleviated a lot of his wrist and shoulder aches. I guess I was thinking of the least intrusive method, as I really only need like another inch, inch-and-a-half of rise/sweep, and I would be good. I reached out to Hitchcock's to see if ones for the INT650 would work, and they said they wouldn't. However, they did say they are currently working on some and that they should be ready in about 10 weeks. So I think I will hang out for them in hopes that they will go on without too much headache. I replaced bars before, and I enjoy doing small things on my Shotgun, but have lost the desire to do to much honestly. The bike is almost perfect as-is, so fortunately, there won't be much more to do after that!

I'm glad you like it !  :)

I'm in it now so I'll just keep it at least for a while but ... I like my 350 Meteor better than my 650 Super Meteor.  I've got the 350 up to 25 or 26 HP now and it's got the Belt Drive too - it's almost enough to not need a Super-Slab-Bike .  :-\
The 650's foot pegs are just a little to far forward for the best handling ... but ... it is very comfortable till there's a bump in the road !   ::)

I can totally understand. That was the one thing that kept me from seriously looking at a Super Meteor, the forward controls. I've never been the biggest fan of them, probably because I've always had bikes with the more standard position. I was kinda' bummed they changed it - was expecting the same exact setup as the Meteor, which I LOVED, just with more oomph. When I saw the Shotgun, it was more like what I expected the Super Meteor to be. Once I get those bars up/back just a wee bit, it will be perfect ;)

That's great to hear about your 350! I absolutely loved mine, was probably the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. In a perfect situation, I would have kept mine for shorter trips, tooling around the neighborhood, etc. and used the Shotgun for highway/freeway rides. But due to limited space and patience of my wife (lol!) I had to choose one or the other. And I have to say that, for being 100lbs heavier, the Shotgun carries the weight very well, and I'm always up for taking for a quick spin to the store and such - never think "Ugh, it's too much." Which is a long-winded way of saying it's a good bike, even for us old farts! 😂

The Super Meteor doesn't turn around in the road like the 350  or  feel like a smaller machine .   Maybe its that long rake angle ?  I'll be sitting on a Shotgun next time I visit my dealer .  :)

Yeah, I think that might have a lot to do with it. And the weight, I think they did a great job of balancing it. I can feel it when backing out of a parking space on an incline or something, but most of the time, don't even notice it ;)

You quickly learn to never park head into a downward sloped parking space with a heavy bike, unless you own a Goldwing with a reverse gear.  ;)

Indeed you do! And a reverse gear on a motorcycle, that would be a treat. I've never ridden a Goldwing, but if I were to look at a larger touring style bike, that's definitely the one I would look into. They are gorgeous, and having owned Hondas before, I know their engineering is fantastic.
