I noticed this from day one when the bike was completely stock and it hasn't gotten better or worse.
I noticed it when accelerating through a corner, it felt like the left peg touched the ground. No way I was leaning over that far. Then I noticed it again accelerating in a straight line. It doesn't happen often and it's inconsistent.
A friend believes it has something to do with the rear sprocket and rear hub. Doesn't sound right to me as it's only the left peg.
I don't think it's potential for mechanical failure, but it can be distracting.
I've never felt this on any bike before.
Any thoughts?

Can we assume that you have been maintaining your chain lubrication as well as tension?   If they get too loose they can start to snatch here and there sometimes.   Being that the chain is on the left side that's where I'd start looking.   Best of luck! :)

Chain adjustment, although every chain driven bike I've ever bought has had the chain adjusted too tight from delivery. I adjust them before I even leave the show room these days.
The other possibility is a rear wheel bearing. Just because it's done it since new don't rule it out. How many miles on it now?

I totally screwed up while writing this. The issue is on the RIGHT side, not the left. Sorry for the confusion.
That's the reason I was ruling out the chain as the issue.
I keep the chain well maintained, correctly tensioned and lubricated.
The bike has only about 1200 miles on it.
Rear wheel bearing? I'll take a look.

Mine went on the right hand side.
Sounded like an angry animal was chasing me  ;D
Grab your wheel and give it a good shake or better yet, remove the wheel.

I may have torqued the rear wheel beyond 50 ft/lbs but I don't think so.
My arm says 40 is good and I have to make myself do the extra 10.
Found out there a spacer gap in the wheel so it's hard on the bearing.

Good info. Thanks!
Is there a visual sign that I may have a bad bearing?

You won't feel a shot rear wheel bearing by just grabbing the wheel with the bike on the centre stand you need to have the wheels off the ground and place a lever between the tyre and the swingarm like a piece of wood and use that and look for movement.
