I also believe that it replaced the G5, indicating the G5 Military is no longer in the lineup. Give this thread a day or so to get corrected from someone who knows for sure though before you set down any money on bets or hardware....

Not even close. My 2009 Military isn't a G5, it's not even an AVL, it's the original iron barrel. I actually bought it THINKING that it would just naturally be the AVL--this was at a time (albeit relatively recently) when I couldn't tell the difference by looking, and didn't think to ask the dealer because I just assumed that all '09s were AVL.

Wasn't until a while later that I realized it was actually an iron barrel. I'm not sure when the G5's were first released in the U.S., but I really don't think it was in '09.

My G5 was out of the first batch over here and I got it in March of 09.
