Title: Brain Bucket
Post by: r80rt on September 16, 2010, 04:32:29 pm
My cousin bought a beat up scooter and asked if I'd get it running, I found this skid lid under the seat and took it as payment for cleaning that gunky little carb. Waddaya think?

Great match! Btw, how come your cylinder head fins are so clean with the miles you've done? Any tips?

I clean the bugs out now and then, other than that just soap and water when I have to :D

Cheers! I didn't remove the rubber wotsits until a couple of weeks ago so I'd never really tried to clean the fins. Took a sponge and soap and water to them after removing the rubbers but it wasn't too effective. I'll try a degreaser. Spoke to a real devoted cleaner the other week who steam cleans the fins but I won't be taking it to that length!  ;D

Muc-Off make nifty brushes for getting the fins and just about everything else clean. Muc-Off cleaner itself is good, but for real greased on grease, Wurth brake&chain cleaner just blasts it off. Not very economical - a can soon runs out - but it really is nuclear powered!
Don't breathe the vapour or you will mutate  :o

Nice!  That's a classic bucket!  But always remember to wear goggles with it.  A June bug in the eye at 60 can really mess up a great ride. :(

I never ride without eye protection.
