I've just heard about the Sinnis T380. It's a 380cc engine with about 38 BHP. It comes with aluminium luggage, crash bars and an LED headlight. The smaller 125cc model has been about for a few years and gets good reviews. It's Chinese but that shouldn't bother us as we all ride Indian bikes, The really interesting thing is the price, $3500, which puts it in direct competition with the Himalayan.

Perhaps it's time for a new adventure bike touring show "Cheap Way Round" using these and the Himalayan rather than expensive BMW GS1200?

In the U.S. i believe that bike is marketed as the CSC RX3, sold by the California Scooter Co.

I think the CSC RX3 has an overhead cam 250cc engine.  CSC has just introduced a new RX4 with a 450cc engine. Their prices are very competitive, in spite of the import tariffs on Chinese vehicles:  https://www.cscmotorcycles.com/default.asp?page=xNewInventory

The RX4 is $5400 without any luggage and I am guessing with no dealer network and who knows about parts.
I think I would prefer an air cooled 650 Himalayan for $6k or so.
