Some say LED lamps are brighter. Halogen H4 12 volt lamps are rated 55/60 Watts, they will all put out about the same amount of lumen.

H4 ( 55/60 halogen? ) bulb that came in 7" chrome headlight from CMW ages ago definitely brighter then whatever was in stock 5" headlite.    Glad I removed "always on jumper" so lite can be turned off went starting.  LED would be better for less current draw.

Lumen for lumen, LEDs are about 1/5th the power draw of incandescent lamps. Less heat thrown off too in the adjacent components & wiring.
A trifecta of Pre-Unit Bullets: a Red Deluxe 500, a Green Standard 500, and a Black ES 350.

Mine came with the 7" headlight from the factory (Euro). So i didn't see any issues with the brightness, nevertheless I'm on LED now, mainly because the alternator is not all that powerful in this bike.

And that's not a theory!
I set up a 7" on my US 5 1/2". I like these H4s. And I like the 1157 replacement bulb on rear/brake light. It drops the brake light from 21w to 5w or less. Then there's the Tiger eyes and instrument bulbs, the B9.
I got the 7" at Western Cycle Supply.
