Sadly, it seems these French-marketed Mash bikes (built by Shineray in China) are not yet available in the States. But check out this chrome hack: https://youtu.be/-pfD5MiqQ9o. She's kinda purty, huh?

I could think of worse vehicles to have a nice long European motoring holiday on though. I wonder if anyone rents them yonder?

Genuine Scooter Company imports the basic bike at about $4K USD. Lots of used hacks show up on Craigs List. A DIY "Family Side"? It's likely you could buy the actual Mash hack-in-a-box with some research & persistence.

A nice thing about the Mash Family Side is it has a reverse.  Very nice to have on a rig don’t you think. 😁 I had a Ural at one time and the reverse came in very handy.

Reverse gear: Fortunately, Mash hasn't gone completely blind to money saving. For example, the Family Side has a reverse gear. Pulling out a lever on the handlebar unblocks an extra gear in the gearbox that allows the sidecar combination to drive backwards. All in all, the tricycle with 230 dry kilos does not weigh too much, but if you have to push it up, you will beep differently.

Yes, that’s it exactly!  To be one with your motorcycle and one with your surroundings.  That’s why I love motorcycling.  It’s not how fast you can go or how powerful your machine is.  It’s the feeling that all is right with the world and you and your motorcycle are one with the world.  Not concurring it but a part of it.  The pure enjoyment of the ride.

I am glad to see one of these in the flesh. If you go to Alibaba.com you can find many like this or quite similar. You could get your own if you can figure out how to get it past customs. Unfortunately it will probably never come to the US. It could probably get past EPA or at least 49 state EPA. I have gotten testing and certification done on several different overseas brands and it's not as hard as you might think. They will have trouble with the brakes, hoses, wheels, lights and tires though. Then there is the larger problem of developing a dealer network, getting licensed in each state, developing a parts supply etc. If I was younger and more foolish I'd give it a go.

Get a G400C, then pick up the required engine case & gears, then ship over the sidecar as an accessory?

Likely not cheap, but there are the bragging rights to consider. At least you could give the Ural riders a lift back to a service station...
