I am not going to bore you with the story of how I have ended up with a GT535, that I don't want I am happy with my Interceptor, except to say that I can't sell it for the foreseeable or anything like that. Just suffice to say the previous owner passed away.
My questions are is it possible to change the 'clip on' style handlebar to more traditional like my Interceptor.
I haven't a clue when or if the bike was last serviced, or when it was last started. I pushed to my house which was quite a workout as it was in next village to me.
I have had the battery on an Optimate for 2 days now, and seems to be holding charge.
Handlebars ? and any suggestions before starting please.

Congratulations, on your latest acquisition!

You have your hands on a highly desirable - but equally quirky - Royal Enfield.

You can get handlebar-raisers from here: https://accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/accessory-shop/front-forks/34219

I'd suggest fitting this handle to it, for it needs no change of cables and the brake hose: https://accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/information-and-services/Royal-Enfield-Thunderbird-Accessories/5262

Also, alongside this wonderful forum filled with knowledgeable and obliging folks, consider joining this GT535-exclusive Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/335763137926636

Do, please, answer the three questions, if you choose to join it.

Why try to mimic your Interceptor?
Try it first, use the bike as it is.
Give it some new oil and TLC.

The battery was not holding charge, despite my initial hopes. I was quite surprised on how complicated it is now to order a battery, Health and Safety rules for couriers apparently !
Getting together parts to fully service to get the bike back running again, like I say I have no idea how long its been stood, having a very good look at the tyres they have very small cracks so new ones of those going to needed. So seems as if stood for years.
As for why I am after more upright handlebars. I am not young any more and have a few aches pains and replacement knee etc from old injuries. My racing style are long gone.
My head tells me I am 30 but the body says otherwise.

Congratulations on the new bike. Seems like we are in a similar situation. I also recently acquired a 535.  It had been sitting for about 10 years... with only 150 original miles.  I was told that mine was stored undercover in a shed, but given the condition of the bike it would seem that the shed had no roof and possibly no walls. Lol.  I replaced the fuel line, both overflows from the tank, oil and air filters, oil, plug, battery, flushed the brake lines and thoroughly cleaned out the tank, as mine sat with a half a tank of ethanol for about a decade. Yours might not require all that but the four REs that I have owned all seem to have suffered from a lack of high quality OE rubber.  I am also running non-ethanol fuel with an injector cleaner additive in the short term just to make sure everything is running smoothly. Best of luck with yours!
