I had a 55 Indian Woodsman that I recently sold and figured I wouldn't be purchasing another RE for a while.  I stumbled across an auction taking lace 1.5 hours from my house and lo and behold, among other classic bikes, it contained a 56 Indian Tomahawk in pristine condition.  Whereas the Indian/Enfield is not as popular as other bikes in the auction i.e.: American Indians, AJS, Triton's Norton's etc. It had a relatively low reserve.  So, I bid the minimum it took to win the auction.  I figured if someone bid higher, they can have the bike.  I really didn't think I had a chance at the bike with my low bid.  Surprise, surprise!  No one else bid on the Tomahawk.  I won the auction!  So, I am back in the Royal Enfield business again.  I must say, I am glad to be back.  I kind of missed my Woodsman.  I do not think I will sell this bike.  lol  It is in excellent condition, but I haven't started it up yet.  I need to drain the fuel and replace it with fresh gas, check the oils and install a new battery.  The one question I have is....  Does the Tomahawk have the wet sumping issue the Woodsman or Bullet had?  I checked the oil tank level and have oil but it is at the very bottom of the stick.  I am thinking I may need to drain the crankcase before topping off the oil tank.  Any and all thoughts are certainly appreciated.

Very nice bike.
I've never had a wet sump issue with my Interceptor. Oil level likes to be in the middle of the stick, not at the full mark.

Thank you.  That is good to hear.  I will proceed accordingly!  As an aside, what type oil are you using in your interceptor?

Valvoline racing 20-50. I started using it in my BMW race car back when I did that. It maintained oil pressure in that car even after long, hot track sessions. Good stuff. It also has a good amount of zinc in it.

Excellent. I just ordered a 5-quart jug of the stuff.  Should have it in a day or two.  Hopefully, I can get this old girl fired up this week.   ;D

Thanks Mike.  Interestingly enough, I just this morning, saw a post on Face Book from a person named Mike Flanagan.  It was referencing a motorcycle.  I cannot recall if it was referencing a firearm or a motorcycle.  Might have something to do with age!  lol    Yes, this particular Tomahawk seems to be in really good shape.  I am in process of picking up a new fuel petcock for it whereas, the one that was in it would not flow fuel.  The petcock had a plastic filter attached to it.  The PO left 110 octane fuel in the tank which melted the plastic filter plugging up the petcock.  I can't wait to fire this little beauty up.

Mike,

I think the RE Tomahawk on FB could be picked up for around $1K.  It has a title.  I spoke to the owner.  Check it out. It may be an easier restoration for you.  At a minimum, a great parts bike.
