Mike I'm sure your occasional lazy shifting just adds to your style quotient

Hay San

I did name my S-Blue-Meteor "ZEN" , and I've about quit looking at the speedometer !  ;)
unless I'm in town ...  :)
.................
Lazy might be the right word most of the time , but I do spend a lot of time grinning  ;D  ;D ;D ;D while enjoying Zen's company .  :)

I did take Zen to the Dragon last spring ridding with a buddy on a Suzuki S-40.  We've rode the area every year for near 20 years now.
So , Zen kept up just fine.  The entire area is mostly 30 to 50 mph roads.   There was one point on the   Cherohala Skyway That we came up behind a Harley Road glide doing about 60mph , the rider waved us to go on around but I was already at full power so , I just followed him along till we got to a down hill section.  That was before the DNA-Cam-DeCat operations .
It might be a little better this year ?  ???

I'll have to take the 650 Meteor this year the time in August when I meet my old friend ,
But
I'd like to take the 350 Meteor for a Three Day Ride also , if I can find some other 350-J folks interested in doing such a thing. :)
It's always more fun to have company .
I forget whether I posted these elsewhere on the forum, or on a Beemer forum, or what -- having some senior moments, so please forgive me.

In any case, at the end of May, beginning of June, when I took my C 400 GT down south about 900 miles, I did the Tail of the Dragon on the scooter (for the fifth time) and, for the first time, I made a pretty long day of things, i.e., I rode farther still, in order to ride the Cherohala.

Dragon (18 min.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ-bP_-Os54

Start of Cherohala (3 min): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QHF3PymMoc

The rest of Cherohala, in which I screwed up the camera setting, and wound up with a high-speed time-lapse video (kind of like something you'd see on Benny Hill):

On the other hand, maybe it's a good thing I screwed up that one, because now it's only 8 minutes long, so you don't have to waste a lot of time on it.

I am thinking about having a trailer hitch put on our car, and then renting a trailer, for next year. It would take me a really long time to make that trip to my relatives in Asheville on the M350.
Cheers,

Very interesting thread. Had this issue when I first climbed Hahntennjoch in the Alps with my Classic last year. It exactly appear after going full throttle for a while and than trying to change gear one up. It wasn‘t fourth to fifth but full throttle any. Engine began to misfire badly. Never appeared again until yesterday. In the meantime I‘ve installed a rev meter in my Classic - kudos to nissbird- and tried to squeeze out the max of the engine. Going up to 6000 revs in fourth gear and than switching to fifth the engine began to stutter badly. It was like as already mentioned before like switching of the ignition. About four to five times. After lowering the speed it kept stuttering for about one second and than ran again normally.

My work around, as noted by others on this forum and others, is to quickly change gears and come back to where you were. Doesn't matter if you go 1 up or down. So, for me, it happens in the 4th gear. Depending on what I am up to, I would quickly switch to third then back to fourth in the same instant and the problem goes away. Same if I went to 5th and back instantly. Otherwise, as you said, it gives you about four or five jolts. And then may continue that if you don't change gears etc.
My two cents, and what works for me. Your mileage may vary! :)

Beautiful videos as always, Bill! Other than the fact that it would be riding on the 'wrong' side of the road for me, the 'skyway' looks similar to what we have over here and I would love to do that someday.

PS: In the timelapse video I like how you overtake the trikes despite on fairly twisty roads! Perhaps you are a much more 'spirited' rider than you let on, mate!  ;)

Well, I do like to open-er-up a bit, whatever bike I'm on.

On the Cherohala, I passed the trikes okay, and a bike or two, but did you notice that the sportbike guy I chatted with on an overlook let me go first, but then flew by me -- like I was standing still -- a couple of minutes later?

Here's a short (6-min.) video I just put up, from last week. I guess this was a little spirited, too, as I passed a few cars, in order to get some clear sailing on a rural road (which didn't work out all that well, a few minutes later):

Oh, this was on the scooter, too, but I'll get back to the M350 shortly, especially since I want to study my new tach in action on the road.
