G’day all,

I changed my brake pads and was in the process of bleeding my brakes when my front bleed nipple… stripped.

Much cursing and straining later, it’s still in place but swaddled in lubricant and I have high hopes for another go tomorrow.

I will however need to replace the bleed nipple, does any one know the size/ type required?

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum Butch!

"Stripped" generally means the threads have been knackered, but your description seems to indicate the bleeder valve can not be removed? Maybe you have used the wrong sized wrench and turned the corners off the bleeder head?

I have tried to ascertain the size of that bleeder valve, to order Speedbleeders for the calipers, to no avail. I even asked the local RE dealer, when I bought my Meteor in 2021, but they were of no help. Maybe their parts book has improved since then.

Yep, the edges of the bolt have been rounded off - I used the same wench for the back bleed nipple, and tried a size down & a size up when initially started to round off the edges.

I have ordered a replacement - but with a 6-8 week wait time I definitely hoped I could find something that worked in the meantime

I've learned over many years of bleeders on cars & bikes to always use a box end wrench. I hope that's what you're using. Good luck with yours. Some can turn into a real nightmare.

Have you gotten the bad one off yet? Could you get a small Vice-Grip on it?
