I always struggle to get the spark plug cap to snap into place.  I finally discovered its a lot easier if I remove the spring ring.  Do other people do that?

I changed the rubbish metal covered cap for NGK.
Off route, recalculate?

If your plug has resistance, you don't need more resistance.

They come from the factory with a resistor cap and a resistor plug.
Only magneto ignition requires reduced resistance.
Definitely change the oem ht lead though, it's cheap and nasty.
Nice bit of copper core silicone lead will last longer than the bike.

I like replacing the stock spark plug cap. It always looks ready to ground out.
  The video shows a further modified ignition, with a DynaTek coil, iridium plug... and the copper ignition wire. This set up does better than the stock.
  The photo shows the Dyna next to the stock coil.

Maybe don't wait for it to fail- like mine! wouldn't start so pulled plug cap off which fell into pieces 😣 salvaged one from a dead fire pump and ordered new NGK as the guy's suggested (had allready changed to NGK Plug)

I got rid of that crap cap and replaced it with NGK l had sparking issues the HT lead kept coming lose changed the cap and lead the bike has been fine since also fitted an iridium plug which is a great help does close to 100 a gallon.

2010 Classic 500. Still on the original cap, lead, coil and have only changed the spark plug, always used an NGK BPR6ES. Never had a single issue in 60,000km. Consistently get 300km from a tank of fuel. I’m 112kg and the panniers are always full. Tool kits, tyre irons, tubes, gear.
