Very aggressive stance and styling. Looks like my C5 on steroids! The graphics are plenty flashy, but seem to be screaming that Royal Enfield is shedding their traditional image of the past and headed to the future. Personally, I thinks it's gorgeous, but let's see what it looks like in production.  They're onto something.

Here is an article from this years EICMA of the RE booth.

They show the SG650 and the 120 anniversary versions of the Interceptor and GT

Be warned...the video is in german and the Youtube subtitles are to be taken with a large grain of salt.

IMO, it would be a shame if they put any effort into producing that. Just another cliche metro cruiser. Dead end.

I like it. Would I buy it? Maybe, but not before the Super Meteor 650.

Just my inconsequential opinion because I'm not in the demographic any longer & will never own one nor would I choose to, but there are a lot of things about this bike I like, e.g., the mirrors, the tail light, the directionals, but the graphics? Not so much. Especially on the cases. What's it 'sposta be? Has the paint been pulled off by the speed through the air like the Star Trek warp speed graphics (where there WAS no air)?

I really like the trend of doing away with giant round directionals.
RI USA '08 Black AVL Classic.9.8:1 ACEhead/manifold/canister. TM32/Open bottle/hot tube removed. Pertronix Coil. Fed mandates removed. Gr.TCI. Bobber seat. Battery in right side case. Decomp&all doodads removed. '30s Lucas taillight/7" visored headlight. Much blackout & wire/electrical upgrades.

This topic was well covered in the 650 twin forum last week.

There, as here, perhaps people mistake the purpose of a concept bike?  Kudos to RE for making a sexy display to get people into their floorspace, instead of just hiring a bevy of booth bimbos.

I remember seeing the last concept bike that RE showed, that KX838 V-Twin bobber.  That display prop's engine block was carved out of modelmaker's foam.  At least this new 650 concept's unique bits were machined out of solid aluminum, the better to resist being poked and prodded.  They had to put a barrier around the KX838, so nobody could get close enough to cause embarrassment by breaking off bits.

I listed it here only because I thought it had quite a bit in common stylistically with the Classic. It should be interesting to watch it all unfold. I remember BMW's concept for the R18. The production version falls well short IMO.

Sure, but my point was that it might have already done all the unfolding that it will ever do.

Concepts are created to generate buzz, and not necessarily because there is any plan to develop them into products.  Those of us still waiting for the Ford Gyron:    https://preview.redd.it/9oavhqi781761.jpg?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=f9ceb9942fc2ffda48c0c6a0271afb77332434c1

and the GM X Stiletto:   https://external-preview.redd.it/1JX2Ts5b3lNuLFT63YlETTNJab2aTr0LXb4ixU73wVE.jpg?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=80fe0a22c0a246df1be396f937077e208eee871a

.. ,  will attest to how much patience is required.

On the other hand, prototypes of what some media folks were calling the Royal Enfield "650 Classic" have already been seen on the roads of India.  I'd anticipate that product, which looks even MORE like your C5 than this stylish roadster, showing up sooner.   Personally, I suspect this display was intended to deflect disappointment in the non-appearance at EICMA, of the much anticipated RE Super Meteor 650 cruiser.

I am into Enfield thanks to the bullet and in part to the new interceptor. I see a trend that slowly yet surely goes toward "generic" which I do not enjoy as the same we have seen with the reinvented Triumph & lately with the new BSA (Mahindra). A common design language that is by now pretty perfect & really boring, in spite of the attention to details.A "triumphization", if you will. Modern classics that are increasingly modern and less classics.

But maybe I just like dinosaurs.

Now that its out there to be seen i  glad i purchased a classic 500 when i did.  The 650 is ok but it looks just like another harley wannabe .  I prefer the unabashed  old styling of the bullet.  Then again i am an old timer.  I have a 58 dodge d100 and a 73 bmw r50/5.  There is something to be sais for the styling of the by gone years.

BRING ON THE BIMBOS!!!  Sorry, but this thing sure looks a LOT like a clone of the HD 2021 Street Iron 883.  (How many Bimbos in a "bevy"?)

I agree with your tastes.  If yours is a '57, wouldn't it be in a C series?   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_C_series

I like the first generation of the D series up until '65, before they started losing the curves.  https://www.mecum.com/lots/DN0719-378051/1965-dodge-d100-pickup/

here is a pic of mine.
Flat head 6

I did a straight trade for my harely.  I wanted a 57 all my life so i couldnt pass it up. Here is the harley i traded.  2003 dyna super glide that i dressed up to give it a modern day look of the 1942.
I suppose thats why the classic appeals to me so much.

I respectfully disagree. No V-twin here! I own an ride three Harleys. Other then being a cruiser style it looks nothing like a Harley. I does however looks much like a Triumph. No big surprise here as RE hired a bunch of Triumph engineers. Right down to the 270 degree crank parallel twin motor. Other then being a smaller 650cc motor and the drive chain being on the other side of trany I’d say it’s much the same.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as it’s been said before.  Besides the paint work, personally I like it.
