Can't wait to get back out on my Interceptor.  It's currently in bits in my garage (my winter project), but maybe I'll get the chance of a cheeky ride-out on my Moto Guzzi V7 later.

Putting you on the spot... which do you prefer?

I tried a V7 before the RE came out. The V7 is a bit quicker and better handling than a stock RE650 but just didn't tug on the heart strings enough. As soon as I saw the RE where's the cheque book!

I'm in Hampshire, England. It's a fine sunny morning, but frosty.  I've just 'ridden' the route from Aukland to Port Albert via State Highway 16 courtesy of Google Maps. Yes we are quite lucky Graham, the roads are even better in the South Iskand.  How do you like your V7 compared to the Interceptor.  When I started looking at getting a second bike I quite liked the Guzzi but never rode one.  The new 850 version seems to have a lot more punch but is 60% more expensive than the RE here so I just went with the Interceptor after I test ride it and liked it so much.

Running errands to get groceries then to the veterinarian and an office supply store. Beautiful afternoon, cool, clear blue sky and sunny. It is so nice to finally get back on the bike.

Lovely bike and picture. Would you please comment on your ribbed pattern seat. Is it the new RE touring seat? If so and if your bike came with the OEM diamond pattern seat how do they compare?

I bought the Guzzi brand new in 2013, having fallen in love with it when I saw it at the NEC show in December 2012. It's Mk I 'Special' 5-speed and pre-ABS. It's red and white, similar to the Baker Express Interceptor, amd I absolutely love it. The new 865 V7 (the Classic in blue and white) looks gorgeous and if funds permitted (which they don't at the moment), I would take one out for a test ride.

In a similar way, I loved the look of the Interceptor when I saw it at the NEC show. It looks like a 'proper' motorbike from my youth! When I sold my Ariel Square Four I had enough in the bank to but a new one and customise it.  I only did 400 miles on it before laying it up as my winter project, so it's too early yet to say which I prefer. I bought a silver one (the only one I could find at the time - they were hard to get last spring, with a long waiting list).  I'm fitting a 'Rocker Red' Conti GT petrol tank and CGT seat and painting the mudguards (fenders) red.  Engine cases and other parts powder coated gloss black, plus lots of other mods.

 I normally say that my favourite bike is whatever one I am riding at the time. (My other bike is a Triumph Thruxton 900).

Outside a nice cafe in New Bern, NC, called Lawson's On The Creek. Lawsons Creek and the Trent River join the Neuse River on its way to the Pamlico Sound. it was cold so I didn't go far, but at least I got out of the house.

After two and a half years with the Interceptor,  I'm still very much RE-loyal. But I have to admit my head has been turned more than once  by the gorgeous Guzzi and more recently by the 865. And by the Z900rs,  though I think at my age that might not be wise.

Yes it’s the new gen touring seat. My bike came with the stock seat. After my first decent ride I found it uncomfortable and started looking for other options.  I actually then found I adapted to it and no longer felt discomfort but ordered this new one anyway as I liked the look of it and thought the white piping suited the Baker Express colour scheme. It is a little taller and firmer as well as a little wider close to the tank than the stock seat. Definitely provides more support.

You're right,  of course.  But there remains a residual desire to at least appear a responsible adult.
