Hey there. Been on here for a while with a 535 GT many years ago, ann older bullet  and currently have a GT650. Brought home today a Classic 500 that hasn’t been used for a while. Apart from being pretty grubby and in need of a service I am pleasantly suprised. Couple of things I noticed in my brief clean up. One of the hoses from the tank has a tear in it, I presume it’s a breather going to the evap canister - see photo one, hose to the right. I have patched it up - is my assumption correct?
Second is what I am hoping is a casting mark and not a crack on the right side of the engine at the front. See photo 2.  It’s uniform but just looks odd to me but then I don’t know these bikes very well (yet).

Just a casting mark on the cases.  Some look worse than others.
You are correct with the pipes.
The one on the right is just a drain tube for rain water or spilled petrol from around the filler cap.
Off route, recalculate?

Thanks Haggis 👍 Is it easy to remove the Evap from the 500?

RE don't use rubber for tubing, it's some sort of congealed curry. It's not unusual for those pipes to perish. Funny thing is, some pipes do while other pipes under there don't. Replace as necessary.
