So I was hoping to get out for a ride every once in a while to keep the battery topped up, but I guess I left it for a bit too long. The battery still has juice, just not enough to crank over the engine. And of course I don't have a handy wall socket next to my bike so I think best option is to take it out and bring it upstairs.

But boy howdy, that battery is jammed in there good! How much trouble is it to remove it? Of course the owner's manual tells you nothing. Do I have to remover the seat? I was hoping it would slide out once I removed all the cables. If it's too much trouble I will wheel it to the next closest wall socket!

My battery was the same on my one year old Meteor. Had to buy a replacement as charging up didn't work. You have to remove the tool tray and two bolts holding the battery bracket. It's easier than it looks

Maybe buy an extension cord? ;)

I've kept the battery on a Deltran Battery Tender over two winters now and it still shows 12.9 V a week after being off the tender.

For those that find a need to remove the battery on the Meteor, the procedure is covered in the factory service manual on pages 471 and 472.
