Usually there's better buy-in when there's something in it for everyone. IF "SWMBO" likes to ride with you, that gets easier.  Fly in to Las Vegas, spend the night, see a show, get your new ride & tootle down to south to Laughlin & stay at the Avi Indian Casino or if adventurous head east & cross over the Colorado at the "new" bridge, then south to Kingman, then east out Route 66 to the Hualapai Lodge in Peach Springs. Next day if in Laughlin head home thru Wickieup/Wickenburg. If you made it to Peach Springs, maybe wander farther east thru Seligman, Ash Fork, then down to Prescott where you could spend a night at the historic Hassayampa Inn. Next day back down thru Jerome and home. A mini-vacation & quality bonding time!

If SWMBO isn't interested in a long ride, there's always a flight back to Phoenix, right? You'll likely be home within a couple hours of her arrival back at the homestead if traveling solo. A night in Las Vegas can incentivise a girl.

411 & 450 Himalayan & Scram / Re: 2019 Himalayan known issues

Mostly easily fixable minor issues over the years.

1. Keyed ignition switch caused 2-3 random shut downs. Cleaned carbonized stuff off the contacts and put dielectric grease and there has been no recurrence. A few folks replaced the ignition switch instead.

2. Battery drains out in 1-2 weeks if unused. Hitchcock’s sells a little adapter that fixed this issue.

3. If in the US, RE did recall and replace both brake calipers for corrosion issues.

4. Front brake lever can go flat after a few days and no amount of bleeding by any manual technique fixes it. Needs the RE electronic tool to cycle ABS to get hidden air bubbles out, but this would have been already done during the caliper recall.

Overall a very reliable bike. HCM cam, powertronic and Lexmark muffler totally woke up the engine. Hope this helps. Thanks.

650 Interceptor & Continental GT / Re: Mid/forward controls for interceptor?

HCM adjusters have worked perfectly for several years. Absolutely no issues with anything falling apart. They do push the entire controls further away from the bike….I took them off last week and am in the process of trying out the Triumph 100/120 original footpegs.

Bullet Iron Barrel / Re: PowerBox (single phase), query?

Makes an odd kind of sense. Someone lost the washer (easily done, I've had main jets unscrew themselves). Bike showing symptoms of low float height because the main jet is now sitting too high, adjust float height higher and bike runs properly but fuel is now coming out of the overflow, plug up overflow.

So once you get it assembled properly and verify the needle jet and main jet are now firmly where they should be and not wobbling/loose. I'd check the float height is correct. The only reson someone would deliberately block the overflow is if the float height is too high or the needle valve is leaking.

Don't know if you read this bit? I edited later.

Also noticed the float bowl breather/overflow is capped off, surely that didnt help.

Installed a side bag instead of the cover

Ooooooh very nice! By the way, would appreciate when you get some time:
- a couple of pics of that seat to check proportions in relation to the bike
- what do you thing of it....good, meh...crap?

Have seen it before but nothing beats real world feedback. Thanks in advance.. ;-)

Nice.  Racetech is a good outfit.  I see they come in piggyback style too with compression adjustment.  I might have gone for those instead of the YSS if I had known they existed.

Would you happen to know what rate springs they put on those?  I'm curious because I recently ordered custom linear springs for my YSS ($$$) and had to guesstimate the rate.

Hey Yellow Duck...does this help... ;-)

Just curious, but why would you use the killswitch to turn the bike off and not the key?

As you have guessed I use the key  ;) and have never noticed any sound after turning off except the tick-tick of the exhausts cooling down.

I wish it was available in black.  Is it a brushed or shiny finish?
