Title: Useless Code for devices
Post by: Guaire on August 26, 2018, 11:00:55 pm
Every time I try to use my iPhone, or my iPad, to enter a posting all I get is this 'Database error' crap. Must I toss them out and use only my big desktop to post?????
Is that the plan here? Does anyone know about this? Does anyone care????

Bill

Guaire -- as I noted in my earlier Post I think its a Unicode thing.  iStuff probably is set to UTF-8 or -16 while this forum may only accept UTF-7.  Although I can't imagine how the result is a 'Database error'. :)

Bert - I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, all jargon.

Judging from the HTML source code header of this very webpage, we are literally rocking like it's 1999 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rblt2EtFfC4), using "charset=ISO-8859-1", which is to say, ANSI (Windows-1252), the original Windows character set, with support for only 256 different character codes--Not quite as "El Primitivo" as the straight ASCII standard, limited as it was to just 128, but still not much more sophisticated than a stick in the dirt...maybe less.

Dang Bilgemaster -- I should have checked that.  I bow to your masterfulness.  Still don't understand why result is database error but you've put your finger on the root cause.  I wonder if that's a configuration option or a limitation of the forum software foundation.
