How are US Himalayan sales going? Been rather quiet on that front since all of the initial buzz. Another flash in the pan?

Good question. At first they went from, better hurry put your deposit down. To seeing them now listed on Craigslist and Ebay.

my dealer tells me they have done quite well with them........not sure what that means though. They would rather sell Triumph (higher $ sale) than RE, but Triumph makes nothing like the Himalayan.

Arizoni, how do you know so much? No matter what the subject you seem to have actual facts on it. Thanks. I may need to get a Himalayan one of these years. They are certainly cheap enough and I think I could throw some of my lightweight camping gear on and go for an adventure.

In this case, I belong to a web site in India and a guy publishes the motorcycle/motorscooter production numbers there.
I don't know where he gets his data but he seems to know what each factory in India puts on the market, every month. I suspect he works for the Indian government because he even knows what the Harley Davidson company and Triumph has for sale in India and these brands are usually very secretive about what they are doing.
Here's a link to his latest post:

Well there are people out there modding street scramblers to actually function off road, but they are not off the shelf bikes by any stretch of the imagination.

My dealer here in France has sold twelve of them so far and is waiting for the new shipment to arrive

According to a few reports in the Indian press there is a very good chance of a 650 twin based Himalayan later this year:

Now THIS would float my boat! Whatever that actually means, I don't know. I think I would buy one of these.

Bought my Himalayan two weeks ago this Friday! Did my first service on it and enjoying all the roads I can now ride that I avoided on my street bikes.
My dealer sold all 5 '19s he ordered so the next batch will have ABS and a small price increase.
If they aren't selling in a certain area it is probably because dealers are trying to increase their profits with all kinds of fees. I paid $4500.

Arizoni has some good stats. I subscribe to several Indian automotive industry (includes motorcycles) and find them very interesting. The numbers are not hard to get if you want to do the digging. All of the companies report their sales monthly which makes it simple.
Here is one blog that I like https://bikeadvice.in/two-wheeler-sales-june-2019/ (https://bikeadvice.in/two-wheeler-sales-june-2019/)

Good for you! I like my new V Strom but I still pine for a Himalayan.

My local dealer STILL has the 2018 model they had a year ago. No price listed. Says "call for price" I think I'll give it a try. But if it is $100 off a year ago, still no deal. I already have a 2013 Bullet bought new for $6000, it now has a carb kit and a pipe, new tires and brakes, and a few other things. About $800 worth of mods. Now we all know mods don't increase the value of something, but in my case they really shouldn't decrease it either. I would be very lucky to get $2000 out of it, even though it looks like new, and thanks to the carb and the pipe, runs way better than new. For way less than they want for a new Himalayan OTD, I could get a nice used VStrom 650 with tubeless tires and a modern liquid cooled engine. Since even the Himalayan has EFI, what's the difference there? I am not a hardcore rider, I am 60 years old with a bad back and a lot of other orthopedic issues. so the more comfortable a bike is the better.
