Title: C5 rearsets
Post by: eda1bulletc5 on February 18, 2013, 06:48:39 am
Hi Folks,
Would this rearset work on a 2011 C5?
http://nfieldgear.com/enfield-store/royal-enfield-rear-sets.html (http://nfieldgear.com/enfield-store/royal-enfield-rear-sets.html)

Any other suggestions on rearsets and where to mount them on the frame for C5? I have an ace clubman handlebar - http://nfieldgear.com/enfield-store/ace-style-handlebars.html (http://nfieldgear.com/enfield-store/ace-style-handlebars.html)

Thanks!
Sajiv

these look like they wold fit in the passenger footpeg mounts. If so, they would be awfully far back.
I got a set from NFG that were for an Electra. They took a bit of modifying on the mounting plates, nothing a hacksaw couldn't handle, but worked great when I got done with them. It's a similar set to the one on the Clubman that Watsonian Squire sells. Call Tim at NFG and see if he can still get them.
It mounts on the swing arm pivot bolt, a new one is included in the kit, and I think the front was mounted on the rear motor mount bolt. You will need to get a new bolt here. The rest of it was pretty straight forward.
The setup was very comfortable and worked well. I had Clubman bars on mine.

Bare,
Thanks for the information!
After installing the clubman handlebar, went for a 210 miles ride on Sunday. At the end of the ride my right wrist was in pretty bad pain (near the thumb); this was the first time ever I was riding with a clubman, so changed the angle a bit and went today for a 75 mile ride - seems the same experience...
Is it true to say that clubman handlebars are not quite comfortable or do I have to ride it for sometime and get used to it?
I think, sports bike also should have the same issue because of the forward lean?
My back was also in real pain!! :-(

Thanks!

They are not compatible with the C5 model.

If you haven't been using them, the clubmans will take a short breakin time for your thumbs! Rearsets will take the load off your back as you won't be hunching over as far on your hip joint. The back should be quite comfortable. The sit up and beg position with the stock pegs will hurt anyone's back with the wrong bars
I had forgotten you have a  C5. I'm not sure the Electra rearsets will fit that. The Electra frame is essentially the same as the G5. However, talk to Tim at NFG and see what he can get!
