Title: stuck fast idle lever
Post by: donatelos on March 13, 2011, 10:13:52 am
after leaving my C5 for a week after a wet ride I find the plastic fast idle   lever on the bars is stuck solid ,dont want to force it open as it seems quite fragile,no problem with throttle action the wheel attachement from throttle cable turns perfect so the fast idle cable doesn't seem stuck on fast idle using extra fuel thankfully, this going to mean a removal of cable and oiling? any suggestions? thanks all .Don

Seems strange that a newish bike has a seized cable.
More likely that the lever itself has seized, if been soaked thro., but still strange.
I think I would spray in to the lever mechanism, first, even try to loosen off the mecanical arrangement to get some lube in.

Lube it form the top and if that does not work then remove the choke assembly from the throttle body to clean it up properly.

thought would end up pulling assembly off only had bike December but dealer too far away to dump it on his lap, still had 220ml ride today over nice roads and kept up with  1000cc -1100cc bikes no sweat on the twisty mountain roads okay no point and squirt overtakes  but planned overtakes done safely instead of rellying on instant power gave a nice feelling of satisfaction when done right ,cruised 65-70 on the bits of straight ,not many of them thankfully just hate going straight for any length of time that's for cars not bikes, bike getting smoother by the mile now I'm up to 1400ml and likeing it better by the mile.Don
