Hmm, NZ is quite a muti-cultural society. Some unusal customs sort of sneak in a times. Still, there is no law against it as of yet, but it certainly is not a common practice over here.

Chihuahuas were eaten in Chihuahua, Mexico, and maybe still are, by the indigenous indians.
They seem not to run away after a few are harvested for supper. Coyotes like them too.
But if we humans get hungry enough anything that doesn't eat us if fair game.

Jack Russels are so smart that you're probably lucky he hasn't figured out a way to BBQ you.
