A belated thanks to all who
responded to a post placed
a couple of weeks ago.
/
The inquiry was which engine
to buy, the AVL or Iron barrel
bullet.
/
I read all the comments, giving
each consideration.
/
After visiting Vince in Olympia,
it became settled in my mind.
Vince had an 07 Sixty-5 with
0 miles. One week later we
made the purchase.
/
very excited about the new bike,
doing the putt, putt, miles.
/
thanks to all who gave advice.

Welcome to the 65th regiment. Chuck ('06 sixty-5 with 215 putt putt miles so far). :)
-
Yes, welcome indeed. I have an 06 65 that gives me more pleasure than I have a right to expect. Mine has 750 miles on it now. I must admit, I did not do the put put thing. I broke it in just as I have everyother new bike I have ever owned. That means I rode it conservatively, without any long periods at a single speed. I also had the benefit of 40 degree days.
Just remember, Heat is the Enemy!!! Keep it cool and it will do well.

Close to 2000 miles in the 65th Regiment! :)

Good choice, the avl wasn't in production for very long, more "go" parts for the old iron barrels. Now theres only the uce engines which look like someone took a turd in a frame.

" the uce engines which look like someone took a turd in a frame."
THAT'S FUNNY!!
To tell you the truth, I kind of like'm... no, it's not an English Bullet but they are what they are. IF the dependability is there, higher cruise speed, and then MORE hp with just a change in the chip, might be tempting....
by the time I get around to one, this new fangled 60'ish Enfield will still be
a retro job being over 50 years old. By then I may want something that will
require just a little less maintenance any way...

Good choice. The Sixty-5 is an especially tasty looking bike. You can always upgrade in (the hopefully far off!) future.
What color again?
-
It is labled black, however it is really very dark green, with green metallic , only
visable in the sunlight.

I've a Harley, rt BMW, Ural patrol, just sold a triumph thruxton, all of which were
ridden to work at one time or another.
/
this past week there have been two people come into the office asking it they
could take pictures of the sixty-5. thru the course of the conversaton I tell them it
is a slow modern day antique. They don't care, they love the bike.
/
always follow up with all things are relative, for these were the bikes passing
my grandpa, as he sported his 54 Chev.

Yep, that's what mine is. A lot of comments on the paint as well as the bike.
