Probably yes, if you go for a complete gearbox and sprocket. Depending on the clutch you have on your bike, it might need some work to it, but this basicly regards the sprocket nut. The gearboxes themselves are interchangable, but the parts are not (at least not all of them).
I did it the other way round, fitted an old 50’s gearbox to a 90's engine.

Well,i do want to ride it.I imagined the scissor system to be outdated and a pain to use.RATHER than put money into an old one,i could put it in a box for safe keeping.

Not sure if the gearbox mainshafts are the same length for the singles and the twins, though.

On an old bullet engine you can use both new gearbox and clutch.

Hi Mike, the mainshaft is a different length on an Albion gearbox from a single cylinder RE.  You would have to reuse the twin mainshaft at the very least. But you haven't explained what is wrong with your current gearbox. It may need a new mainshaft bearing (sealed) and seals and possibly a new layshaft bush, unless you have missing teeth on any of the gears.  And there is nothing wrong with the scissor clutch, I think it is better than the pushrod clutch as do others.
All the best, regards Charles
