All normal sounds. I think the buzz is the fuel pump discharging, and the pop is likely to be the EVAP system..

Right…several evap hoses terminate in the area I hear the pop, so that does make sense to me. Thanks for responding.

I was able to reproduce it several times in a row in the 10 mins I was trying to figure out where the noise was coming from.  Bike was pretty hot from a solid hour of riding so thinking it might only be happening after longer rides which is why I’ve perhaps only noticed it recently.  Had a few longer than normal rides this last week.

Is it more likely to happen with a warmer motor, in your opinion?

She's a dead set beauty, mate! Those are some awesome water channel grooves on that seat. Sorry about the dealer hassels, never fun.
that's an aftermarket seat cover, i'll look at the label in the a.m. owner (of both bike AND dealership) neglected to transfer the title into his name, or to assign it to the dealership, so no longer a private sale. i had to jump thru extra hoops at the last minute, which took all day, and an extra round trip. came VERY close to bailing out of the deal.

Had my Interceptor for a couple years but it’s still pretty new.  Just over 3000kms on it and I’m noticing a noise at shutoff.  Maybe it’s always been there and I haven’t notice until now or it just started happening…

After flipping he kill switch, there’s a 10-15 second long hum sound and then I hear a “pop” sound coming from under the seat behind the side panels. Similar to the sound of a gas pilot light igniting.

Anyone hear something similar on their 650 twins or know what it might be?
I've not experienced that. Curious, if you can make it do the same behavior by shutting it off using the key? Mainly get it to replicate the 10~15 second humming sound. I'd guess that hum to be the fuel pump still running.
Any way... if using the key doesn't do it AND shutting it off via the kill switch still does ... that would narrow it down.

If it were me, I'd pull off the muffler and look for signs of oil. If it's using as much as he says and it's not gushering out on the ground it's got to be leaving through the combustion chamber. As a last thought, I don't know how the breathers are plumbed on these bikes, but I've seen plenty of "windy" engines that ran fine and had okay compression and still pressurized the crankcase enough to force oil out the breather and into the inlet tract.

I would look there too. A while back, my 535 CGT started using oil. Not a huge amount of smoke but a little bit. The exhaust valve stem seal had come adrift and ridden up the stem. Oil was pouring down the guide and straight into the exhaust port. Lots of oil inside the muffler.
