Lubed the chain, checked over the bike prior to a trip this week over the Central Range of the Andes.

Did you idle it on the center stand then let it remain in that position before draining the oil?  These engines tend to have oil "hide" inside if leaned over onto the side stand prior to draining.
Yes, I did.

Returned from a trip to the Capitol.  Stopped at La Linea summit for a quick picture. As I pulled back onto the road the clutch cable broke.  Rode the last hour+ home slip shifting.  That's what I get for NOT taking the tool kit and spare cables with me. You'd think I'd learn.

Forgot to mention, when was the last time you checked your license plate screws?  I stopped to get my raingear off yesterday (it's HOT down in the Magdalena river valley)  and took a look around the bike - to find the license plate hanging by one corner.  The screw on that side was NOT working loose, but the other side was gone, baby, gone.  Of course I'd NOT taken so much as my Leatherman tool (idiot) and no spare screws anyway.  But to the side of the road was a barbed wire fence.  A quick walk along it (about 30 feet) and found a piece of barbed wire rolled up and draped over a fence post.  I wiggled a piece off the end, bent it into a U, poked it through the hole and bent the ends as much as I could with my fingers.  It got me home.

Spent about an hour employing heat gun, and thumb-nail to remove huge (US) "80 decibel law conformity sticker" from Bholenath's frame without scratching paint!  :o Brake clean and a rag cleaned off residual goo.

Having just properly secured wiring harness back into nacelle, that part of frame became a focal point for me and useless, obnoxious, ugly sticker had to go! It is much better now.  8)

Didn't have "before" but here's the "after";

Nope, did not - for once.  I DID carry my firstaid kit - which beats needing it and not having it like with the tools.  In this case, had it, but didn't need it.  Need to probably put some zip ties in there just on general purposes.

I replaced the stock headlight with a 7" kit from Hitchcock's. The pilot light was a spare LED from replacing the instrument lights.
One pic shows the stock wiring, which transferred to the kit light. The color leads identify the Lo, Hi and ground connections.
Watch polarity on the pilot leads. You just pull out the rubber plug, put the bulb back in. I used silicone lube to help re inserting it.
The kit came with a H4 bulb. I replaced it with a spare LED with a H4 base. Sometime night I'll see how the light works. There's no provision for aiming it. As I recall none of the BSA, Triumph or Norton bikes I rode had aiming adjustments.

Drove out to my storage to check on the Bullet,
this time I took the keys!
after kicking over a few times to get the oil where it needs to be, she started on the first spin of the starter.
I realised I should have given her a wash before leaving over winter, the Bike is coated in dead flys and beasties which are now rock hard!

I was going to ride the bullet home a few weeks back but the weather turned for the worst, hopefully get her out next week, then oil change Carberry plate fitting, nuts and bolt check a bit of oiling and away we go for another seasons riding so my winter bikes can have a rest..

starts every cold start with just two kicks!
How do you manage that? I usually take 4 kicks but sometimes more on really chilly days. Plus, before starting, I also do a kick to free up the clutch and another 4 kicks to move the oil around. How on earth do you manage with just 2 kicks?

When it's warm I don't bother with the warm up kicks and just give one decent kick to start her. I tend to use the "choke" lever always and then back it off immediately once she's running - I do this whatever the temp. I usually leave her idling for a minute before riding off.

Got headlight re-installed after securing harness back into nacelle. What a tight fit! Rotating speedo grommet between Koso-TNT and nacelle top to correct position did provide headlight clearance, and elevated little buttons for selecting function. Amazing...  ::) Previously they were blocked by big chrome steering head nut.  :P

Finally collected the B5 from winter storage after 2 hours on a bus (should have been 1 hour but it broke down!).
I still took the long way home over some of Dorset's finest back roads good to be back on the thumper again. I am thinking of putting the original torpedo silencer back on instead of the cocktail shaker or am I just being daft?
