New 2013 C5 owner, 2500 miles by original owner and I just picked it up pretty cheap!
While going over the bike I noticed that the bracket under the seat, to the right of the battery, that secures the rectifier/regulator is broken.
The device was just hanging by its wires and bouncing around.
Is this a common item to break?
I removed the bracket and will be welding it back together, also ordered a new one to have as a spare or in case the weld won't hold.
Been riding for over 30 years and this might be my favorite bike ever!

Seems to be a very common problem. I have a 2015 C5 and mine was fractured, not completely broken, at 5,500km. Bought another one on eBay, installed it, and cable-tied it with some padding to stop it flapping around. Very dumb design that looks like it was an afterthought

Yes a common problem. Remove the left mounting bolt and cable tie the bracket to the frame tube . This prevents vibration and solves the problem. . Replace cable tie occasionally.

I will add some padding and cable ties to help reduce the vibrations.
May also add some reinforcement to the bracket when I weld it up to keep it from being able to break so easily.

I read that there is a source for a heavy duty replacement bracket.
Does anyone have a link to where this can be purchased or any information about it?

Its easy to make a heavy duty bracket, the frame already has a second threaded hole to utilise and once the bracket is mounted at both ends it won't vibrate or self destruct . Wild Bills cable tie idea has worked well for 25000 km on my B5 . On my wife's C5 the bracket snapped in it's first 300 km before I had a chance to put a cable tie on ,so I made a new bracket that mounted to the frame at both ends . Hard to get a photo without lifting seat off but you should get the idea ,

the dealer. I think they were upgraded on later models and a bit more beefier I think. plus on 017 onwards they moved it to the back of the ecu box for safe keeping

I just looked at the location and mounting of the R/R on my 2011 B5. It is located right up front, between the front forks, directly under the headlight and behind a ventilated steel cover. To me it seems like that is the perfect location for the R/R. No problem with a goofy bracket and it is right up front in the cooling air stream, instead behind the hot engine fins, where the electronics might be subject to overheating and early failure. I wonder why RE would have moved the RR to the new location? What was wrong with the older location that would have encouraged RE to drag out their brain trust to make a change to the old Bullet? ???

I wonder if a R/R from a 2011 model could be used in a 2013 bike and be moved up to the front.
The wiring on my 2013 wouldn't be long enough to reach the old front location without modifications.
Just thinking if the 2011 R/R came with longer wires it would be easier.
