Title: ENFIELD COUNTRY
Post by: wildbill on February 19, 2016, 12:39:01 am
I don't think its ever been done before or not here in oz and I think it would look pretty cool too so I plan to take my "despatch" out into countryside to hunt rabbits with some help from my high powered 22.250. I then plan to add a few good photos and submit the story to a hunting magazine to see if I can get it published.
so to give you some idea my plan of attack is as follows
I rode the bullet, fired the bullet, and despatched the bike to dispatch my game. All courtesy of my faithful old 500cc Indian thumper.
plus I have to ride the bike into the rough country -the paddocks to do just that. well I have arranged the property to do the photos and shoot so it might work or it might not but I still think a battle green enfield  or for that matter any enfield would look the part - not so sure on my chrome job though....I think it might dazzle them a bit ;D

lining up the properties to hunt on now. the magazine sells quite a few thousand copies per month so it would be good exposure for an enfield

You could mount a chrome plated AR15 to the handlebars and really have a hunt.

A Fiat X 1/9... low enough to dispatch any road crossing varmint....that is if the car starts and didn't rust in place

If you really want to finish this adventure right, you're going to need to make some rabbit curry.

I think that fiat was only about one year old when I bought it so I got in early. although here in OZ FIAT in abbreviation - found in a tip! ;)
at $12k in 1981 it wasn't a cheap car second hand either ::) had a couple of alfasuds too. they too follow the same path with rust.
as for the curry I probably won't write that into the story or they might be chasing me for recipes.....lol

Wow - here, we have a phrase for that kind of hunting challenge: "like shooting fish in a barrel..."

;)

Good news today from the OZ hunting magazine. After a 20 year break my first fox article was accepted and may run as a part 1 and 2 ;D so it's time to bite the bullet  ::) and go further with this and another idea to write my C5 dispatch in a rabbit hunting story as the main mode of transport. I think I will call it.

"Welcome To Enfield Country."

I think it would look pretty cool seeing an Enfield in the OZ scrub and tearing up the track. :D  No I won't be taking the blue unit along as in the hot sun the chrome could dazzle them ::)

stage 1. of my project getting back into the hunting magazine has been successful and I received the first run of the june edition of the magazine yesterday.
stage 2. begins and hopefully nailing the C5 despatch in a rabbit hunting story and hopefully get the enfield in print too.
after that I have no more interest in the hunting mag and will call it quits.
now if you wondering do they take the articles for free -no they don't. if they like they buy and if not bad luck.
this hunting story from the '70 period ended up running as the main feature story and I suppose if you were keen you could keep trying to get scripts in -this one will be worth $450 to $500- but I had 30 years with idiots with guns and almost got shot twice. that rifle in the photo a sako 22.250 I fired 10,000 rounds through it so I am no longer interested in  killing game.

Fur hunting .....  means something different over here .....  depending on age - could involve disco balls and spirited beverages.
