Title: regulator connections
Post by: dogbone on December 24, 2007, 03:28:37 pm
While burying all my electrics in the left sidecover, I disconnected the regulator & the rectifier. The plugs in & out of the rectifier,  are the same !!! ???
with the two harnesses facing up, which side is in from the alternator ?

Face the rectifier so you can properly read the word rectifier  (as in the word RECTIFIER is right side up to you). The right loom is IN from the alternator. The lead from the the alternator comes from the main harness. It has two purple wires, a black wire, and a red wire. Plug this into that right loom to the rectifier. The other plug goes to the regulator.

Thanks, it seems the plugs should have had dissimilar connectors.

When taking electrical connectors apart it's easy to identify them by using women's nail polish to mark the respective leads before pulling apart.

Use a dot system.  One dot connected to one dot - two dots connected to two dots, etc.
