Fixed the sub harness for the rear lights. apparently it snagged the tire. Anybody have a better way to keep the sub harness away from the tire aside from those clips on the inside of the rear fender?

In my opinion  regarding the UCAL carb only, and having actually done it, the performance is about the same in outright terms. Maybe a little freer at the top end...it certainly seems to pull harder up around 80mph, but without a dyno run, it's just feel.

In terms of general running, it's much better. Smoother, with a more gentle on/off throttle transition, zero glitches. And it runs cooler.
Fuel consumption is worse of course....I measured 75mpg on the first thankful. UK gallon that is, down from 85 with the FuelX Lite box add-on I fitted to the FI.
That's indirectly the objective; to get the mixture to a sensible non-emissions based number.
Attached is a before/after picture of the parts involved. You can't see the difference in weight between the two wiring looms, but it's significant.
I could also have included the ABS parts, EVAP and PAV parts!

I plan on doing the same to my C5 later this year. Do you mind sending the part numbers you used? would greatly appriciate!

I finally put the final touch on getting mine roadworthy.  Installed the new tire, then the used caliper I bought, bleed the brakes, and off I went for a test run.  Sweet.

Completed a few little jobs on it, fitted a lifting handle on the right hand side, wiped it over with a rag and went for a ride.

Early birthday presents for me today.  My rear seat frame came, and my Vevo brand tubing bender.  I will use the bender to make frames for my panniers when they show up, sometime between now and March, lol.

I got the seat frame for a couple of reasons.  Previous owner had the seat sitting on the rear fender, and I want the seat frame to help support the new rear rack I will build for the top box, and to act as additional support for the pannier racks.

When I redid all the wiring on my '08 AVL I did just use the clips, but I also ran all the wires through a piece of Tygon tubing.
RI USA '08 Black AVL Classic.9.8:1 ACEhead/manifold/canister. TM32/Open bottle/hot tube removed. Pertronix Coil. Fed mandates removed. Gr.TCI. Bobber seat. Battery in right side case. Decomp&all doodads removed. '30s Lucas taillight/7" visored headlight. Much blackout & wire/electrical upgrades.

Just done mine as well. I had them re chromed first as there was small rust spot that was damaging the seals and causing a leak.

Off route, recalculate?

I re-installed the rear seat, this time with the factory style rear seat frame.  The old setup used a fender mounted rack, and the seat was bolted through the reck, using wingnuts to hold it on.

I had to cut those off, amd drilled the base and installed rivet nuts in the seat pan (not factory seat either).  I then bolts the seat to the new frame and the frame to the bike.

Next I will build a rear rack for the top box, and then mounting brackets for the panniers on order.

Installed Hitchcock's adjustable side stand on my classic 500.  Put bigger (taller) tires on your bike and be prepared to have it lean WWWAAAAAY over on the side stand.  Not good.  (Your center stand geometry will also need adjustment as well...two, 1" shaft collars works good).

The adjustable stand was still too short for my likes, so added a threaded coupler and a short piece of M14 all-thread to add a couple more inches and it sits more upright to ease mounting/dismounting the bike.

what size up did you make that fits easily?
