Hi all,

I have had my 2011 Royal Enfield Classic 500 for about two years now and it's my baby. She had been running well until recently.

The other day, after changing out my headlights for an after-market LED headlight, I started the bike and she ran fine. I took her out for a quick short spin, when suddenly mid ride the headlights began to flicker and all power to the bike stopped in the middle of the road. I had to drag my poor bike back by hand for about a km.

Now, when I turn the key into the ignition switch, there is no power, no lights, and no check engine light coming on. I thought it was a battery or a wiring issue that may have come loose either due to the headlight or vibrations?

I unhooked the battery, and charged it and plugged it back into the bike. But there still does not seem to be any power. Any idea how i can go about fixing the issue?

For the record, I have no mechanical experience and know nothing about bike maintainence. I'm trying to learn and teach myself through youtube and all I really want is to get my dear beautiful motorcycle back on the road.

Any advice or guidance would be really helpful.

Upon removing the headlight in question I noticed these two areas had melted and fused together. I pried them apart and they look like this. Does this mean the headlight is completely defunct now? Was this the cause of the issue?

Please advise. Thank you.

Did you check your fuses??  I'd check that straight away.

Yes I have checked the fuses and can confirm they all seem intact.

Well it's obvious your aftermarket led headlight is the problem...you will definitely have blown a fuse.
Check that....those spade connectors that are melted...did you connect them together..
Freedom.

just a thought if your model has the glass fuses, i had a mystery misfire at times, checked everything visually all looked good my bike then stopped all together and when i started to investigate i found that the fuse that looked good the actual metal cap had become detached from the fuse, so new fuse and misfire has gone as well so i think the fuse had been slowly getting detached from the metal cap

Hi all,

After careful consideration, I took the bike into my local dealership for a check up and repair. The primary issue of the bike was that there was a wire in the ignition that had come lose due to heavy vibration.

After come careful sodering of the wire, the bike now runs fine and is back on the road.

Many thanks to all of you for your input and guidance. The issue is now solved.

Wishing you all the best.
