  • My Bullet is Mowgli…

Hello everyone!!!

This may sound a bit senior and soppy moment but I offer no apologies and that is I went out for a fantastic chilled ride in the sunshine tonight. The traffic was light and my mind could safely wonder somewhat.

Like us all I have had some great bikes and thoroughly enjoyed my time with me, I have had some awful bike too obviously!!!
I don’t know what it is about the Bullet but I absolutely love it, it is like a drug and just  love everything about it unyet I have had better, bigger, faster and definitely more refined bikes in my time unyet they fall short of my Bullet.

I honestly don’t understand it? But it gives me so much pleasure and can never see myself selling it. I can’t stop riding it or polishing it!!

Am I the only one that feels this way?

My pre-unit machines give much the same experience but with more fettling required. Hard to beat a Britbike-DNA pushrod single. Hitchcock's keeps it doable & affordable. Glad you are having fun!
A trifecta of Pre-Unit Bullets: a Red Deluxe 500, a Green Standard 500, and a Black ES 350.

You're not alone  ;D

I think the Bullet is a spectacular bike in that it is a spectacle to drive.
There is sound, mechanical noises, ever changing vibrations. It's purely mechanical, yet somehow alive. Nothing is sterile or dampened down. You know that you are on a machine, you can feel the explosions.

At the same time it is extremely comfortable, ergonomically just right. Road holding is good, it makes you feel safe.

The spectacle makes you forget the need for speed, yet it is fast enough not to be a nuisance. It pulls like a train, always willing to get you over the brow of that next hill.

Riding the Bullet is not about adrenaline...but it is a massive dopamine dispenser

Well-stated, gents!  Having a 500 Classic and a BMW R1200RT, they are at completely opposite ends of the performance and refinement spectrums.  Each gives me a huge grin but for entirely different reasons.  The Classic takes me back to early days on a simple Yamaha 650 that got my broke butt to school and work when my car was broke down (often).  The C5 just thumps along, complains of nothing, does nothing particularly well but just feels so solid, simple and honest.  It is a pure joy to toss around, easy to move around in the garage, cheap to feed and gets lots of thumbs up in traffic.  What's not to love?
