An article in my newspaper today, published by the Associated Press, says that trillions of cicadas, called Brood X, are ready to emerge from their underground homes after hiding out for the past 17 years. This brood is said to be one of the largest and most noticeable ever seen. They will be flying around in 15 states from Indiana to Georgia to New York. They are already coming out in mass numbers in Tennessee and North Carolina. Let the bug smashing and cleaning begin. 

I must say that I sure am glad that we don't have those suckers on the West Coast. They sound really nasty!

I lived "back East" during one of the breeding years. Driving through Georgia, North to South, the road was littered with dead cars. People were so busy trying to keep their windshield clean enough to drive - they ignored their radiators. I had never seen them before, or since. It was absolutely straight from a cheap horror movie!  I had a MGB and the cockpit quickly filled up with big swarming bugs to the point where I just put the top down and tried to keep the speed up.
I wonder if in 2021 they will have a bug-map-app for bikers?

That is what I recalled from rider stories of 17 years ago. It sounded really nasty to me, which is why I made this thread. Trillions of anything flying around sounds like something that I would not like to experience.

I rather enjoy the emergance of California cicadas. I recall a week of hiking serenaded by ther thrumming. Those red-eyed critters were clicking everywhere.

They aren't out in the East Coast yet. The worst part is the noise. The horror story about overwhelming road travel has never happened in a Virginia town that I have ever heard of. In northern VA no road nightmare never happened.

And now there are reports of a "gas crisis" in some areas of the Southeast due to the shutdown of the big interstate fuel transportation line. Sort of like a mini-1970's gas crisis, with car drivers panicking and sucking every gallon out of gas stations - leaving to even more panic. At some stations gas prices have soared to $7 a gallon according to this morning's news reports. I guess if you run out of gas and can't drive or ride for a while you will not be hitting as many cicadas, so that might be a plus.  Or maybe not.

It's a plus in the same way having lost one's job or one's business due to the hoaxid plandemic yet being paid by the current administration 300 dollars weekly to stay unemployed is a plus.

For the record, as far as I know neither Mumbly Joe nor Am I Black This Week Harris are actually responsible for invasion of the USA by swarms of cicadas.  Invasion of another sort, certainly, but not cicadas.
