I like to warm my bikes up before I ride them and I seem to rush the warm up on the GT because I have to sit there helmet on, not moving. What's the best way you all have found to fix this. Cut the cable or?

I unbolted the switch and put it back on the other way around. I believe you can also simply unplug the wiring connector to the switch .

1thump:  The easiest thing is to just disconnect the switch from the harness: find the switch on the side stand and follow the wire up to the first connector you get to, and unplug it.  Secure the separated connectors accordingly, and don't forget to put your side stand up, since you now have no reminder.  You can remove the switch altogether, but you'll still have the harness-side connector to tape over and secure.

There was/is a problem with the side stand cutout switch mounting on the Bullet models which caused it to intermittently and temporarily kill the engine while riding - sometimes just causing a hiccup, sometimes stranding a rider.  Many (dare I say most?) owners disconnected the switch to prevent the problem.  It was discovered that by enlarging the switch's screw mounting holes a little bit, the switch could be better positioned so as to prevent the false cut-outs.  I don't know if this problem has carried over to the GT models.

But it doesn't sound like you're having that problem, you just want the switch's function gone.  Somewhere here recently, I think somebody came up with a wiring mod that only killed the engine when the side stand was down and if it was put into gear, so you could warm up the bike on the side stand in neutral, but still have the safety feature of engine cut-out if you popped it into gear with the side stand down.

SpaceAviator: as far as I know, all the UCE Bullet and GT models are shipped with this "safety feature".

You have a point - I don't know if the Indian market models have this switch.  We in the US and Europe have a number of safety and emissions "features" required for legal import, that you guys don't have.  This switch may be one of them.

I just saw my bike and the kick seems to have no wire or sensors near it. I guess we indians dont have it. Do you mind posting a picture of what it looks like?

I just discovered yesterday that almost all of my spokes of the front tire were loose. My bike randomly started wobbling on the road.

I've already removed mine, but the switch is under the motorcycle at the pivot point of the kickstand. The kickstand has a bit of a lobe that rides on the switch and depresses it as the kickstand is extended. It's a "normally open" switch, so as has already been stated, you only need to disconnect it from the harness to deactivate it. I went ahead and removed the switch altogether from the chassis.

Mine is already removed from the bike, and I don't have a GT, which I believe has a different side stand altogether, so I don't think a photo from me would help...  ;)

Indian market models do not have the safety switch on the kickstand.

SpaceAviator, Re: your spokes-Holy crap, load your bike, don't ride it, to your dealer and have him tighten, true, and balance both wheels before you put another inch on it. You most likely will have a terrible accident if you ride it any further. Safety first, my friend!

Ok guys I'm mad now! I posted awhile back on another thread that I had already removed my safety switch and I caught a ton of crap for it. Now it seems most of you regulars here are now removing/unplugging the stupid thing. What's up with that??????
Not really mad. I just figure it takes guys longer because they need to make it "their" idea. Lol :-)

CafeGTgirl,
You need to expand your horizons and look into the UCE section :).  Most of the C5, G5 folks lost their side stand switches years ago!  We would never dream of giving you crap for all of your ideas, which BTW have always been excellent!  :)

No way would (or did) I give you even a flyturd dot of crap for removing your sidestand safety switch.  I think it's a great idea.  :D

Within a week of buying my 2011 G5 I noticed some misfires while cruising down the road.

Folks here mentioned disconnecting the sidestand switch which I promptly did.  The misfires while riding disappeared.
As near as I can figure it, with the sidestand up the switch was on the verge of closing and shutting down the engine.  Any tiny bump in the road could move the sidestand enough to activate the switch.

3 1/2 years and 16000 miles down the road I've had no problem with the disconnected switch or with leaving the sidestand down and riding off. :)

When this issue comes up, being the dweeb that I am, I feel it's important to warn others that doing this could cause a crash if the rider doesn't remember to put the sidestand up before riding away.
