Just got in from a 3 day, 1000km trip to the south east of the state for an interstate bike group meetup event. It rained off and on for most of the weekend so the majority of my trip was in some kind of rain. So glad I bought some new wet weather gear before the trip, it kept me warm and dry through some pretty torrential rain.

My old Pantah ran like a clock and didn't skip a beat even through the worst of it, to the surprise of a few of the other riders. Unlike the new BMW R1200GS that chucked a hissy fit and went into limp mode when it got rained on. Seemed to come good after sitting to dry out for a day but it doesn't seem very adventurous of it.....

When I was stationed at L.G. Hanscom Field, west of Boston, during the late 1960's. I used to go riding with a friend who rode a Ducati 160. At the time I was riding a 1968 Yamaha 125cc YA-6. We would ride along the highway at full throttle. I could just manage 72 mph, while his Ducati would go about 72.5 mph. I can't recall his bike ever having a mechanical issue, although mine did once when it cratered its piston and dropped the compression down to about 4:1. Once I cleaned off the spark plug of melted aluminum, I was able to return home as long as I kept the revs above 3K. Those were the days when 70 mph was just fast enough and big craters in pistons were no big problem - as long as it wasn't a hole.  ;)

Oil filter change on the 1500 Wing today - one of the easiest jobs to do too  :)
No wonder we no longer have a motor industry

Went for a nice ride in the country on my very ancient DR250. 286km for the day, 90% dirt roads. I'm pooped.

Another Ducati Owners/Historic Motorcycle Racing Register track day. At Mallala this time. My least favourite track, but any track's better than no track.
More cool old race bikes. It's great to see and hear the old bikes out being used. I saw Nortons, Triumphs, BSA, Velocette, old Japanese smokers H2 and RD. Being a Ducati club event, there were a few bevel drives, a pantah or two and 4 (!) Verlicchi framed TT/F1 reproductions. Very sweet indeed.  Also plenty of modern bikes, Ducs as well as other things. And my mighty DRZ400SM. Mallala is a bit of a point and shoot track so the SM is outgunned on the straights but it's all good. It made up for it through turns 1 and the double apex turn 2. Going 'round the outside like a buffalo gal. Too much fun.

Envious!!!
Thanks for the photos. The pic of white framed Ducati really shows how simple it should be, huh.

Slightly off topic - but is Uncle Fester's Dalmatian paint scheme bike in the Wednesday  trailer a BMW R80 ? I am not familiar enough to know for sure ...

There's not a lot to go on visually but my best guess is R 80 ST, which would make a pretty nice tug for an around town and two lane rig.
