Title: Applebees
Post by: baird4444 on February 01, 2013, 05:37:25 am
my wife pointed this article and situation...
http://gawker.com/5980558/pastor-who-left-sanctimonious-tip-gets-waitress-fired-from-applebees-claims-her-reputation-was-ruined

I contacted Applebees
http://www.applebees.com/about-us/contact-us
and suggested they change their corporate culture and protect their
people from arrogant customers like Alois Bell. Also told them that I will
not set foot in their door till the situation has been publicly rectified.
Screw the corporate BASTARDS!!
give them a shout and tell them how ya feel about this...

I just read that myself.  I don't know what's worse, the fact the pastor was such an arrogant douche bag, or the fact that the waitress actually lost her job because she posted a pic of the receipt to show her friends the crap she has to put up with just so she can pay her bills.

I'm an assistant manager for Advance Auto Parts, and let me tell you from experience, it's an absolute joke for the corporate BS I have to put up with on a daily basis.  From time to time, I can feel really good about myself knowing that I was able to help someone and make their day.  But it never fails.  There's at least 1 A-hole every day that expects you to stop the world for them and really changes the way you feel about today's society.

If someone hasn't realized that posting anything about work online is begging for trouble, I don't think the entire Internet petitioning is going to help him (her).

TOO funny. What most people don't know is restaurant workers don't even get minimal wage....well the cooks do but they "work for tips" and most places add automatic for parties. It is usually pointed out in the menu. 18% last I heard most places expect almost 20% automatic.

Kinda true, but not always.
My granddaughter in new Hampshire was making about $3.50 an hour in a place in Dover. I've forgotten where she was working, but it was a big chain.
However, in Cantaffordia, the restaurants are required to pay minimum wage to everyone.

Two wrongs don't make a "right".

The server was apparently having a "bad day".

The "paster" should have been the more mature of the two in this situation, and diffused a " misunderstanding" and left a reasonable tip (15-20%)

The server was wrong to share payment information to the public as a representative of her company.

There you have it folks. I don't like applebees food. Can usually find something better to eat.

The server didn't share it as a representative of her company. She left the company name out. It only came out when it went viral.

And the pastor should have acted more like a Christian.

In Australia there is a minimum wages so tips are generally only given for good service.

Often the tips do not go to the person who served you. In many bigger establishments the tip is collected into a communal fund used for something like a staff Christmas party. In small one man operations typically the tips are regarded as belonging to the owner and go into the till at the end of the day.

Ditto in the UK.

I prefer to slip the money into the waiters hand so s/he gets it rather than adding it to the bill when the proprietor may get it and use it as wages.

I suppose it depends on the restaurant but the ones I know anything about total up the "tips" and distribute them equally among all of the waiters.

That means the slob that coughed in your face, had his thumb stuck into your soup bowl as he passed it to you, and screwed up your order so your Veal Scallopini became a Tofu sandwich when he plopped it in front of you gets the same amount as the little girl across the isle who's getting her costumer some extra butter before they even ask for it and busting her butt to make their stay totally enjoyable.

I didn't realize socialism has creeped in so far.

My 16 year old daughter works summers and weekends at a breakfast place in town. Her hourly wage is $3.50 so she obviously relies on the tips to make it worth while. Last Summer a church group from out of town showed up for breakfast. There were about twelve of them so my daughter shoved a couple of tables together to seat them all in one place, served them breakfast and brought them coffee for quite a while as they lingered after they ate. Her tip was a pamphlet telling her the pathway to Jesus. I don't think this is an unusual occurance.

The vary Book they they claim to follow, will be used to judge them.

For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."
