Saw the meteor in the flesh today and I must say its a really nice bit of kit. Too small for me and the riding I do, but I don't think the pictures give it justice. Thje styling is really nice and the finish is great! Well done RE
Kind regards

From what I've seen it would make a good bike around town for the UK, and for commuting in cities/towns but would be lacking in oomph for the open roads in this country. If there was a 500 cc version that would be a lot better... Agree about the styling, but that won't be to everyone's taste. I'm sure there will be many different versions in the pipeline though.

They discontinued the 500cc single a couple of years ago.
I suppose this 350 is mostly for the home market of Indian villagers.

Saw a new  preproduction 350 at the local garage on Monday. Rider said he worked for Enfield and lived by Hitchcocks. Fair way from home.... It was all in black and looked really compact. Think it had a 17" front wheel and I'd guess they'd raised the
gearing too. He said it wasn't a Meteor but the third variant  yet to be launched.

Interesting. I do wonder if they are planning a 350 Interceptor type variant.

I agree. I hope RE sells a lot here but I think it’s just a little to slow of a bike for most of the US market.
REs I currently own:

2010 Bullet G5 Deluxe Black
2017 535 GT Continental Red
2018 Himalayan White

The RE dealer in Vancouver, with two stores, is taking delivery of 95 units. They must be expecting them to be popular. It's a great beginner's bike, for those who like the looks of a classically styled bike, rather than the weird looking stuff coming from the likes of Honda and Yamaha. It will also sell to older riders, like myself who has one on order, who is finding a 700 pound sport tourer a little much to be pushing around in the garage nowadays, but doesn't want to give up motorcycling altogether.
Past rides:
1966 Honda 65 Sport
1967 Honda CB160
1973 Honda CB750
1982 Honda V45 Magna - the most uncomfortable bike I ever did a cross country tour on!
1983 Honda CB1000
1995 Honda ST1100 - sold 2015 after 175,000 km
1996 Honda ST1100
Current ride:
2021 Royal Enfield Stellar Blue Meteor 350

On Saturday 13th I was able to test and drive the new Meteor for about 20 minutes. the footrests moved forward if you are not used are not found, I felt ridiculous. However I liked it, suitable for the city and small and medium-sized trips. Good braking. Here is my video and it also has subtitles but they are made with automatic translator and I apologize for the mistakes.

I just got back from a visit to my local RE dealer and saw the Meteor for the first time.
You said it right, it looks much better in person than the pics suggested.

It's not for me (riding position, overall cruiser vibe) but the fit and finish were impressive. The switchgear looks like a real improvement over the 650 Twins.

Hadujorganic - is it about the same physical size as the old 500 Bullet? Ferdi was impressed with the smoothness. Maybe we're just a piston away from a new 500cc Bullet...?
A trifecta of Pre-Unit Bullets: a Red Deluxe 500, a Green Standard 500, and a Black ES 350.

Thanks for putting that up there. You got a "Thumbs Up" from me. Being used to an old Bullet, I'm sure I could happily ride one of those. And there's no need to apologize for those subtitles. Actually, I rather enjoyed listening to that ultra-crisp northern accent. It was like having a ride-along with a Roman Centurion. Here in the USA, at least in my home town of Boston, or in movies like "The Godfather", we mostly ever hear a sort of mumbly "Pastuh Fuhzool" (pasta e fagioli) version of Sicilian or Calabrian.

So badass my Enfield's actually illegal  in India. Yet it squeaks by here in Virginia.

I had a similar experience at my dealer today - they do look very nice in the flesh, but I couldn't be tempted unless they made a 500 version. I bet they are great for urban riding, but I don't think a 350 would cut it for me on the open road.  ???

I can't answer that - I'd have to see them side by side.

The impression I got was that the Meteor is a low and somewhat wide bike, accentuated by the teardrop tank and the broad tractor seat. he wheelbase didn't look especially long either, but that could just be a perception thing.

It's too bad RE thought they needed to appeal to the cruiser crowd. The direct competition for this bike in India seems to be the Honda CB350 ('H'ness) which is more of a classic UJM ergonomic setup, which I find much more compelling.

RE's famous for using a powerplant in multiple venues, dressing the basic machine up with tanks & fenders. Maybe there's a "standard" lurking in the woods for us pragmatists. If the 350 soon appears in "GT" guise, that'll make an appropriate frame for a standard too.
