The problem is the sound clips. They sound the same if it is an open pipe with no mufflers or completely stock. It's like trying to tell which cheese tastes best by watching a video.
Well, I guess your ears just don't work.  :)

Removing the packing doesn't increase the loudness a whole lot, it just removes the mellowness the packing imparts and adds more "bark".  You notice it most under acceleration or when quickly revving.  At any rate, I love the sound of my AEW silencers.

Its been too hot to ride, so what does one do except buy bloody bits for the bike instead. I put some emgo cans on and they are a bit unsociable, so I ordered some eBay DB inserts, along with a high flow air filter and a booster plug to help the ecu a bit. Hopefully everything will here by Christmas so I will have a new year project. The booster plug was sent from Denmark to Australia last Wednesday night and delivered that Sunday morning.  Gobsmacked at the delivery with DHL, across the world to my door in four days.  It takes two bloody weeks to get anything that is shipped locally over here.  Anyway, I'm hoping it will liven the toy up a bit.
Drink now....avoid the Xmas rush.
greetings from Brisbane, Australia

Is there a reason people aren't fitting the race only version which don't have the cats, are lighter and less money also?

Racing license required to purchase. I don't have one, do you?

LoL, I can purchase any product S&S has in their inventory, including their race only items any time I want.
I don't have a racing license and I'm not special in any way either  :)

Cool! I don't have that ability. I just saw the new AEW mufflers that look like the iconic Bonneville mufflers. That "snake swallowed a cat" look and they mount horizontal, not sloping. Seriously considering those.

I just had my dealer do the cams and 11:1 pistons on my '21 Interceptor. S&S pipes, K&N filter with DNA airbox removal. She's noticeably more peppy, but I'm getting severe engine knocking under heavy throttle in 6th and occasionall 5th gear. Tried pepping up the ocane, just in case, but it looks to be actiming issue.

Welcome to the forum Black Campbell 8)

With respect to the knocking or detonation noise I'd expect the installer to rectify that.  Engine changes like compression,  camshaft, intake alteration and exhaust changes are 75% of the job, making it run right is the final 25%.

It seems like they need to finish the job.

Back to the dealer. With those mods you'd really need something like a Power Commander or a PowerTronic ECU tuner, which needs to be tuned on a Dyno. If they installed the pistons and cam, but not the tuner, then they need to do that and tune it properly.

My S&S pipes have a race only badge but still had a removable baffle which I removed. Sounds great!
Would mind Revellry's header pipes too.
Cheers and beers

Speaking of S&S mods, has anyone done the 900cc big bore kit yet?  I've very interested in that when it becomes available again.

The 650 isn't slow...it's a nice enough engine with some character and pep...but it's certainly not fast, haha.
