One of the "tools" I carry and learned how to use isn't really a tool per se. And non-US members will need a localized approach.
I have on my phone both the FedEx and UPS apps. Here is why: With both those apps (likely DSL, too) you can initiate a pickup order.
If you need a part while out on a trip and you are hunkered down in a motel or campground the nearest dealer may be a long ways a way. And a dealer who has the particular part you need in stock might be in a different state. Once you find the part you just pay for it over the phone. You initiate a FedEx pickup at the dealership and have the destination be your motel room. Also paid for via your phone. In most cases you will have your part the next day or even maybe by 10AM.
More importantly, you control the process and all the parts guy has to do is put the box on his front counter. He doesn't even have to copy down the address of the motel. He doesn't have to know how to do anything. It can be a small part or a tire.
In the scheme of things that is a pretty minor disruption. ... the apps are free and don't weigh much.
