Title: Meet up section
Post by: The Garbone on August 17, 2012, 02:40:05 pm
How about a section of the forum dedicated exclusively to get togethers and meet ups.   One stop shopping and it will keep the threads from disapearing too soon.

Or add to trips/ride reports by changing the description of that category.

On my other forum (Sportsters) this has lead to some great rides...

Base it on REgion.

Example: NorthEast, South East, Gulf Coast States, Plains States, South West and North West.

Need to throw in a Mid-Atlantic region too.  We people South of the Mason-Dixon Line who aren't really in the South i.e. MD, DE, WV, & NoVA.  The Carolinas down and New England aren't really our neighbors.

Anybody who will bunk Maryland and Florida in the same regional bed hasn't been to either state...  ;D

Think they use the Mason/Dixon line to establish that specific region ;D

Uh yeah, but we aren't even close to Georgia and Florida.  Might as well list events in Alabama with DC/MD/NoVA then.

Maybe we should just start with North America and add regions as needed.   Of course the shear volume of data may be overwhelming.   :o

Get a consensus of how far most of us are willing or able to travel to "meet up" - there's your region size.  That's probably a lot of regions!

How about splitting the regions int state by state sub forums.
For example,
North America/Midwest/Minnesota.
That way it is easy look only as far away as you want to go.  I suppose there might not be enough active forum users to make it work for some states/regions though.

Florida can have its own region.....many call it "The Sandbox - AKA Flatistan"

I would like to revive this dead thread!!  Talking to other Bulleteers about how to contact each other, it came down to basically a phone tree.  I would like to see a place on this forum to put up or look for local rides, especially when our plans and weather changes so quickly.

This is food for thought.

Who's got suggestions on how to make it work ??

Dan Kearny put together a Royal Enfield events calendar.  There is a link for it in this thread in the campfire section.
