Hello,

Since I have now already installed some additional consumers on my Himalayan, I need a relay for a switched plus.

I found out, that the obd connector (see picture 1) has a switched +12 volt signal that could be used to drive the relay. The brown wire (see picture 2) has 12 volts on it when the ignition is turned on.
Does anyone know what current can be applied to this line?
The relay draws about 300-400 mA.

In my case I would like to use it to control the relay, which then applies the battery voltage to my consumers.

I would already have a counter plug for it....

But I do not want to smoke any electronics....

The circuit diagram in the Himalayan manual is unfortunately of such a bad quality, that I can not identify anything....

Dont touch that connector. Is for OBD scanner things, is atachedd direct to ECU.

Hello Ambrosig,

Thanks for pin layout - that‘s what I figured out.

It would have been nice to be able to use the 12 volt signal to switch my relay.

In order not to take any risks, I will now tap into the rear light....

Maybe we can find a circuit diagram in readable quality from which we can see what this line could do....

According this plan the plus signal of the OBD plug is coming via Fuse 3 and ignition switch from battery.
So no problem 😊

Hello ex-xt,

I bought it from Amazon Germany:

“LoongGate Adapter-Verlängerungskabel, 6-polig auf Standard-OBD2, 16-polig, für Motorräder”

 The adapter cable was ~ 10 euro.

It is a standard Obd Adapter cable which also works in connection with an obd device with the Himalayan and I just cut the plug on the obd-device side off. It works perfect now as the driving signal for my relay I need for my heating grips :-)

What do you mean by " cutting the plug" ? Do you have a picture ?
THe plug stuff is not my hobby  ::)

As I already mentioned in another Thread: The 6 pin Sumitomo Connector is rare and quite expensive. So it would be better to buy a complete cable for the KTM. This has the right connector, but different pin allocation.

I have added 3 pictures:

A) an obdII adapter cable Himalayan to obd device and my obd data read out device

B) the obdII adapter cable (described above and bought at Amazon for about 10€)

C) the Himalayan side of the obdII adapter cable, of which I used only this 6pin plug side to get access to the Himalayan obd on board plug using only the switched +12 Volt signal of it.

As l understand it the relay switch has a low current 12 v draw, the higher current would come form a different circuit as in starter or lights which carry a higher current draw, if you connect wrong you could fry your wires.
