Title: RETIRED!!!!
Post by: suitcasejefferson on March 29, 2014, 05:10:26 am
In all excitement about the Enfield, I almost forgot about this. Today is my birthday. I'm 55. Today is also something else. It was my last day of work. Ever. I'm done. This is not something new, it's been in the works for years. Fortunately many years ago, I made some smart (and very lucky) financial decisions, and a couple years ago, began making plans to retire at 55. I have medical issues that were interfering with work, fairly severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, and both knees and shoulders are pretty well shot. I will probably be getting new knees in the next year or so. I had the same job for 36 years. Since I had the ability to retire early, I took it, hoping to get some fun in while I still can. Now to finish breaking in that Enfield.

You go, girl!!!!

Seriously, congratulations!  I hope you get to enjoy these years... you're off to a good start!

Retirement doesn't look like it's ever in my future...   (http://d26ya5yqg8yyvs.cloudfront.net/ne_nau.gif)

Congratulations, and happy birthday!

I'm not retired, and I like what I do so much that it's more like fun than work.
I don't make enough money to retire anyway, so it's a good thing I like it.

Wish i was in your shoes SCJ. I was unlucky many years ago and did the opposite of what you did and as a result will probably be found dead under the alignment rack holding a 24mm ratcheting wrench. It might take a few days for anyone to notice since they will think that i am just napping. 8)
Happy birthday, and good for you, best of luck on your retirement!

Congratulations!  I'm in the probably work 'til I die club.  More because of starting a family a little late and not planning exceptionally for the future, but still no worries.  I'm not sure that I would know what to do with myself if I didn't work!  ;)
