Here is an article regarding the history of the mid-1960's Honda CB 450 (Black Bomber) that you might find interesting:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okq2IqLViGs

I had one in the 1970's. It ran OK even with busted rings, just smoked a bit. New rings didn't make any difference to the running. I've never found a shortage of these machines used, so IMHO there were plenty sold. It was subjectively too top heavy, but the CV carbs worked well enough. The torsion bar valve springs were fun. I liked the two-smoaker T500 Titan Suzuki better, lighter feeling overall and lower CG. But that's just me.

I had the CB160 in 1970. The CB450 was regarded as a big bike back then.

Here is a picture of my 1970 Honda CB175-K4, a better bike than the 160. It was good for a steady 80 mph on the freeway and was as reliable as a rock.

The cb175 k4 still looks good now. I had a lot of trouble with the cb160 engine , I bought it used  although from a dealer.

Here is a photo of my wife's 1972 Honda CL175-K6. It was not as fast or as smooth as my CB175. I got the feeling that the machine tools used to make the bike were starting to wear out.  ???
