Finely after waiting since April (2021) for Hitchcicks in England to get a new stock shipment of the compleat rear brake master cylinder rebuild kit, telling each time I spoke to them that it was probable going to be 2 or 3 months before they got a new shipment in.  Finely two weeks ago they didnt get the rebuild kit in but did get a brand new compleat rear master cylinder in. I jumped on it.  With DHL shipping to Houston Tx, it was $162.00. 

Also replaced the front brake pads at the same time.

Got it delivered Tuesday Nov. 9th.  With no hurry, it took about 2 hours to install and bleed the brakes and install the front pads.

Went out for a 15 mile ride before dinner.  Took it easy the first several miles just to make sure the rear brake was working fine with no issues. And also to give the front brake pads a few miles to start barking in before I hit 4:30pm Friday traffic.

Everything works like a champ and it sure was nice to be back on the GT since not riding it since April.  Glad Hitchcocks was able to get in stock the rear master cylinder. 

My GT only has 10,150 miles on it at the time the rear master cylinder started to fail.  Any one else have any issues with there Byber brand rear master cylinder?

Did you work out why the original one failed?

You could have bought one from India for $100 and had it 6 months ago

Theres a check valve in the master cylinder that failed and was letting fluid by pass it.  Hitchcocks was waiting for the rebuild kits for the rear master cylinder and caliper to be shipped to them from India.  India was having issues getting stuff shipped out.  So going direct thru RE in India wouldn’t have gotten the part to me any sooner.

Fitted a lithium battery and a charging lead

The original batery from 2014 was an old fashioned lead acid one that needed topping up with distilled water - but has done well for nearly 8 years

Then spent 30 seconds fitting a Puig flyscreen - not sure if I  like the looks or not (the original suxties bike had one) it but a test ride will confirm it's  usefulness - when the temperature creeps into double figures....

Wow. Mine lasted about 6 months.

Mine lasted 18 months, but the dealer told me it wasn't a stock battery (and I bought the bike new) so maybe the stock one didn't even make it past the distributor. Mine also needed a dud regulator to burn it out. 8 years is still pretty special though.

It's the same than before : Avon RoadRider MK II. Excellent tyre with perfect grip but soft (and not dual compound like a lot of modern tyres).
I've made 5200 Km / 3250 Mi with the previous one.

Not much wear on the front one. A single cylinder is hard with the rear tyre !

Goodness, that didn't last very long. What were you getting from the other tyres?

I got around 9k km from Sport Demons and Battlax BT45. The current Avons, I don't know off the top of my head how far they've been. a few 1000 I guess. They're getting very deep scalloping on the side treads. Did that happen with yours?
Agree about the grip: Not a problem. I really like them.

I only own the 535 since 1 year and a half and replacing the tyres was in my first mods. So I don't know about the longevity of the Sport Demon that were on it.
Yes quite deep scalloping on the sides too.

I replaced the front tyre at the same time. Wear is very even. It will last a lot more time.

You know, I drive fast most of the time and only on small roads with a lot accelerations, braking and twisties. So maybe that's one of the reasons of the short life of the rear tyre

Yeah, maybe. But so do I. Just had a look at mine (and my service record) , I still have 3.5mm of tread depth in the centre at 5000km. Same on the sides. Maybe I'll get the usual 9k ish km. I'm good with that.
I'm kind of tempted to try a pair of Metzler lasertecs, just for laughs. It's been my go to on my pantah. They wear out so fast, like 3000km.i wonder how long they'd go on the gt?

Today on a short spin through the hills the shifter linkage failed on me. The threads on the shift lever end ball joint pulled out and the shaft dropped out. Lucky there were a few threads left in the joint for extra adjustment left over so I could screw into them and get myself home. Think I'll go buy some quality ball or rose joints from the local bearing place and make it nice.

Removed the forks in order to fit YSS emulators. Hopefully my mate's "rattle gun" will easily remove the damper rod bolts, I'll give it a bash someday soon.

Change my oil 2 days ago. About 3,300 miles on this oil change. Decided to take the oil filter and cut it apart just to see what kind of crap is caught up in it. Not too sure I liked what I saw with quite a bit of course gritty metal filings, which I know is normal for the design of the 535. But still didn't like what I saw and decided that it's cheap insurance to change the oil every 1500 miles.
